WORLD BENCHREST SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIPS NELSON, NEW ZEALAND 2-12 November 2017 Member Countries – Firearm Entry I have recently been talking with New Zealand shooters who attended the Supershoot in Ohio. They reported to me concerns being expressed by a number of shooters who were intending to come to New Zealand, that entry into our country with firearms was likely to be with some difficulty.I am unsure of where this has come from, but can only assume they have translated the Australian experience to New Zealand. I am fully aware of the process to get in and out of Australia which no doubt is of concern; however New Zealand Firearm Law is quite different and straight forward. Most countries are part of the Visa-Waiver programme as previously distributed and therefore you will be granted entry at the border. As regards firearms, you will need to apply for a Visitor License and this can be obtained by completing an application on line from the New Zealand Police website. It is a straight forward application and should only take a minute or two to complete. When your shooters are known, let me know and I will issue a personal invitation for you that you can copy to Police. New Zealand Police have been informed of our Championship and I do not expect any difficulties. However should anyone Organising Committee: Nelson Branch New Zealand Deerstalkers Association Contact: Postal Graeme Smith 52 Marlborough Crescent, Richmond, Nelson, New Zealand +6435447138 [email protected] www.nzdanelson.co.nz

WORLD BENCHREST SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIPS

NELSON, NEW ZEALAND 2-12 November 2017

Member Countries – Firearm Entry

I have recently been talking with New Zealand shooters who attended the Supershoot in Ohio.

However should anyone experience any problems, please contact me directly and I will assist on this end.

One word of caution. If you are likely to transit through Australia, there has been a recent incident where a returning hunter from South Africa to New Zealand via Australia had his firearm seized due to no Australian Export documents. We are trying to determine via our National Association whether this is an aberration or some new requirement. When the outcome is known I will advise.

In the meantime, be assured that New Zealand has its own system and you will find our country most welcoming. Please distribute to all potential competitors. All documents are on our website – just click the WBSF Logo
