A friend of mine, a captain of a large bicycle club, bought a new machine lately and, as I told him would one day happen, he tried to stop suddenly when going too fast down a hill. He was thrown right over the handlebars and

very seriously injured. The machine also turned a complete somersault and was bent out of

shape.
