Volunteers Needed for 17th Annual Price Chopper Capital Holiday Lights CAPITAL DISTRICT - Volunteers are needed for the 17th Annual Price Chopper Capital Holiday Lights to help trans-form Washington Park into a wonderland of lights for the 2013 theme, “A Silver and Gold Celebration.” Proceeds from the Lights’ spectacular benefi t the children and pro-grams of the Albany Police Athletic League (PAL) which serves about 3,000 young people annually and is marking its 25th Silver Anniversary. Volunteers are needed for set up every weekend throughout November from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers work outside setting up more than 125 displays and should bring work gloves with them. Starting Nov. 16, volunteers also work inside the Lakehouse to transform it into Santa’s Workshop with Santa, crafters and more. During the show, “Albany PAL relies heavily on volunteers to help with such activities as photos with Santa and costumed characters,” said PAL Executive Director Sgt. (Ret.) Lenny Ricchiuti. Evening vol-unteer hours begin Nov. 29. The 17th Annual Price Chop-per Capital Holiday Lights will be open nightly for vehicles to drive through the displays from Nov. 29 through Jan. 3. Credit Union Opens Branch at Scotia Glenville High SchoolSCOTIA / GLENVILLE - First New York Federal Credit Union

and Scotia Glenville High School held a joint ribbon cutting Grand Opening ceremony on Friday, October 25th in honor of opening the sixth in-school branch offi ce of First New York Federal Credit Union. Representatives of the school district and credit union were there to launch this joint initiative. The branch, named the “Scotia-Glenville High School Branch” is located across from the school’s cafete-ria. The Scotia Glenville Branch is being run by student volunteers in conjunction with the Albany based First New York Federal Credit Union.The branch is a joint initiative between the credit union and Scotia Glenville High School. The in-school branch will give the students a better un-derstanding of the fi nancial and marketing world. This working branch will be serving as an introduction to the business world for the students. During the course of the school year, the students and the credit union will work to-gether in a variety of ways including training, operations of a branch and marketing. In addition, the students will cre-ate, execute and report on various marketing campaigns to be used at the branch. The Scotia Glenville High School Branch is open one day a week on Friday’s from 10:48-12:55, and will be available for use by students and staff members. The branch will be available for opening new accounts and conducting fi nancial transactions.

Jingle Bell Run 5K®

CAPITAL DISTRICT - The Arthritis Foundation of Northeast-ern NY Announces Plans for “Jingle Bell Run” 5k ® Timed 5k to be held at new location; Central Park, Schenectady. Early Registration Now Underway! Bells will be ringing through the air at the “Jingle Bell” Run/Walk to benefi t the Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern NY. I can no longer fl y. The sun and winds have caused me to become tattered and torn. Please carry me as a reminder that You are not forgotten.” The Stars are given freely to any soldier or veteran that we meet, or are mailed to them. Stars are given to Veteran Homeless Shelters so those Veterans know that we respect them and they are not forgotten. Stars are given to our Wounded Warriors as a Thank You for what they have en-dured. Stars are given to our Veterans in Nursing Homes and Veteran Hospitals. Volunteers are needed to help cre-ate these Stars. Families and friends need to contact us so we can share the Stars with their loved ones.
