WHAT IS PEACE?• Peace can be a state of harmony or the

absence of hostility.

• "Peace" can also be a non-violent way of life

• Peace can describe calmness, serenity, and silence.

• Peace can mean a state of quiet or tranquility — an absence of disturbance or agitation.

Need of Peace• “We are living in a world of guided

missiles by misguided men”.

• Nations are exploring new weapons of destruction.

• Necessity for Peaceful co-existence.

Peace as the presence of justice

• If an oppressive society lacks violence, then the society is not peaceful, because of the injustice of the oppression.

• Peace requires not only the absence of violence but also the presence of justice.

Peace in the presence of injustice

• Peace by the imposition of ruthless measures is peace in presence of injustice.

• It does not creates peace in real sense but this is illusion of peace.

• Development doesn’t means wealth only.

• Peaceful development can be a set of many different elements such as good governance, healthcare, education, gender equality, disaster preparedness, infrastructure, economics, rule of law, human rights, environment and other issues.

• Love can make a garden flourish but hatred can destroy it in few seconds.

• Peace can be spread only by love.

• Love and peace both are interdependent on each other.

• It is a state of mind, body and mostly soul, a peace which is within ourselves.

• This feeling is not dependent on time, people, place, or any external object or situation.

• It can only be achieved by spirituality.

• The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually to notable peacemakers and visionaries who have overcome violence, conflict through their moral leadership.
