“Living Lives for Christ” Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost

“Moses and his helpers could make all the furnishings and clothing. Moses could consecrate the priests. But

there was one thing that no man including Moses could do, and that was to command the presence of God:

to summon the Shekinah Glory into the holy of holies! Now God was ready to accomplish that. Israel had

been redeemed from Egypt. Israel had been given the Ten Commandments. Israel had entered into

covenant with God. The tabernacle had been built and assembled. The priests had been consecrated.

Then-and only then-all was in order for the Lord to take up His residence in the Tabernacle which was in

the center of the camp of Israel. The glory of God descended and filled the Tabernacle. The book of

Exodus ends and what an ending it is!” – Bernard L. Ramm

“It was the Lord’s ‘dwelling’, to which he came in all his holiness. The ‘dwelling’ was a tent, for the Lord

came close, identifying himself with his people’s circumstances and taking up his residence at the heart of

their nomadic life.” – J. A. Motyer
