Students are settling into their regular AUAP classes, getting to know all their teachers and are meeting many AUAP Classroom Volunteers!

In American Studies class, students started off with an activity checking their knowledge of basic information about the U.S. and learned some listening and notetaking strategies in preparation for their first American Studies’ lecture titled, “Introduction to American Culture and Geography.”

In Functions class, students prepared for the downtown Bellingham scavenger hunt by completing a scavenger hunt on WWU Campus. These skills will give them more confidence when they travel in and around campus. They also practiced how to talk about their families and how to describe them, so they can deepen their relationships with WWU students and community members.

In Integrated English Skills class, students have begun working on their Research topics by choosing their topics and developing interview questions. They have begun to use CANVAS, an online Learning Management System, for their coursework and are steadily gaining better and clearer communication skills in English!

• Outdoor Movie Night: Avengers Infinity Wars

• Paint B’Ham Blue

• AS Late Night

• AUAP Cup #1 – Campus Photo Scavenger Hunt

The end of September was full of fall welcome activities for WWU Vikings! AUAP students participated in exciting events such as Rec Center Late Night, New Student Convocation, Outdoor Movie Night, Paint B’Ham Blue, and the Associated Students’ Clubs Late Night. At Paint B’ham Blue, AUAP students were welcomed to Bellingham along with other WWU Vikings by staff, faculty, and upperclassmen; there was live music, food, and fireworks to end the evening! The first AUAP Cup also took place at the end of the month, where each IPA group competes against each other with various games throughout the cycle. Students learned more about the WWU campus through a campus photo scavenger hunt for AUAP Cup #1.
