Jesuit Alumni Associations of IndiaTO GIVE NOT TO COUNT THE COST
The Jesuit Alumni Associations of India (JAAI) facilitates a
discussion for networking amongst Jesuit Alumni/ae. It empowers
arrangements of affiliations and attempts to build up a connection
among the different Jesuit Alumni Associations all over the world. It
attempts to open strategies for secularism, alleviation of poverty,
empowerment of women, upliftment of the marginalized, protection
of human rights, preservation of environment and spread of literacy.
Jesuit Alumni Association of Tamil Nadu
Jesuit Alumni Association Tamil Nadu (JAAT) is an association
consisting of all the School and College alumni associations in Tamil
Nadu. There are 17 Alumni Associations in the Province of Madurai
out of which 7 are of the colleges and 10 are of the schools. The four
Southern Jesuit Provinces have a Southern Zonal Council of the
Federation of the Jesuit Alumni Associations of India.
The World Union of Jesuit Alumni /ae
(WUJA) World Union of Jesuit Alumni
The World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA) brings together former
students of Jesuit schools and universities in the entire world in order to
build international relationships among these people, to contribute to
the mission of the Society of Jesus and to promote the universal
dynamics of Jesuit education.
For these purposes, WUJA organises world meetings of Alumni
with themes related to the commitment to the world and the society in
the perspective of Christian and humanistic values, as practised and
promoted by the Society of Jesus in its educational vision and mission.

Welcome to TAMILNADU - Tiruchirappalli
The Ease of Living Index 2018 has
indentified Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) as the
12th best liveable city in India and 1st in
Tamilnadu in the category of health.Trichy is an ancient city located on the
banks of the River Cauvery with history
tracing back to several centuries. Trichy
was the capital of the early Cholas, known
as Woraiyur. This is still in existence as a
part of the city. The famous Chola king,
Karikala Cholan who ruled from Woraiyur
was a great warrior and an engineering
maverick. He built Kallanai (9 kms away
from Trichy) almost 2000 years ago.Later Trichy was ruled by Pallavas who
built the Rockfort. Trichy is also one of the
most important religious centres for all.
After the rule of Pallavas, Trichy was under
another reign of the Chola empire.
Rajaraja Cholan and Rajendra Cholan
ruled from Tanjore (50 kms away from
Trichy). Then Trichy was also ruled by
Pandyas and Nayaks of Vijayanagar
empire, and the famous queen
Mangammal. Later it was ruled by the
Arcot Nawabs. Robert Clive's victory over
French and Arcot Nawabs opened a new
leaf in the history when the seed of the
British Empire was sown in India.In 1870s Trichy Railway Junction
became the most important headquarter
for the South Indian Railways (SIR). In
1928, the Golden Rock Railway workshop
was established. The Bharat Heavy
Electricals Ltd (BHEL) in Trichy is
manufacturing heavy boilers and power
generating systems.Trichy is the vibrant city, located in
the heart of Tamil Nadu. Trichy
International Airport is one among the
top ten international airports in India
with many international flights from the
Middle East, Singapore, Kualalumpur
and Colombo.
The Rockfort Uchi Pillaiyar Temple (Ganesa) is 275 ft tall with 437 steps, Srirangam (one of the 108 vaishnava temples) is a river island flanked by the Cauvery and Coleroon r ivers , Thiruvanaikoil (one of the 5 centres of cosmic elements in the form of water), Samayapuram (the famous Sakthi Temple), Vayalur (Lord Karthikeya/ Murugan temple), St.Lourdes Church (St.Joseph's College Church) built in 1890 AD as a replica of St.Lourdes Church in France and Nathar Shah Dharga (more than 1000-year-old) are the famous spiritual centres in Trichy.
Trichy and its vicinity offer a lot of historical and tourist places like famous Brahadeeswara Temple (Tanjore, 50 kms away from Trichy) an engineering marvel built by the mighty Chola Emperor Rajaraja Cholan more than 1000 years ago, the Gangaikonda Cholapuram (grand temple built by Rajendra Cholan, son of Rajaraja Cholan almost 1000 years ago), Navagraha temples (9 temples including Lord Saneeswara near Karaikal), Nagoor Dharga, Our Lady of Good Health, Velankanni (150 kms away from Trichy) and Poondi Madha Basilica (45 kms away from Trichy).
Trichy is also known as a vibrant educational hub. St.Joseph's College and St.Joseph's College Higher Secondary School have celebrated the Dodransbicentennial celebrations (175th Anniversary). Bharath Ratna Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President and scientist is an illustrious Jesuit alumnus from St. Joseph's College, Trichy. Similarly, St. Joseph's College Higher Secondary School has produced eminent scientists, statesmen, leaders in all walks of life and entrepreneurs such as Shri. Shiv Nadar, the Founder and Chairman of HCL Technologies.
St.Joseph's College has been awarded the special Heritage status by UGC and A++ in the 4th cycle of NAAC Accreditation. St. Joseph's College Alumni Association was awarded 4 out of 4 marks by NAAC for its dynamic activities.

JAAI's Flagship Programmes/Activities:a) Blood Donation Programmes Blood donation camps are arranged over the country throughout
the year especially on 31st July to coincide with the Feast Day of the St. Ignatius Loyola.
b) Environment and Ecology Programmes JAAI has collaboration with Jesuit Council of South Asia (JCSA) for
environment and ecology programmes to be carried out in Jesuit Educational Institutions.
c) Alumni Exchange Programmes 'College to village' and 'Village to college' concept has been evolved
wherein every semester the students should go to villages and serve the society. This has a very good outcome through domestic alumni exchange and international alumni exchange.
d) Student Exchange Programmes Student exchange groups in the past visited India from different
countries like Ireland, Australia, Spain, and Belgium and participated in social service projects.
e) Students' Leadership & Soft Skill Development Programmes JAAI facilitates Jesuit Educational Institutions to start Young
Leadership Programme under the aegis of Toastmasters International in public speaking.
f) Constitutional Modules, Human Rights & Women's Rights Programmes Based on the principles of GC 36, it is contemplated to start
orientation / diploma course for 1 year or 2 years in our Jesuit Educational Institutions, wherein the Constitution Module will be taught. Few of our Jesuit educational institutions are already having programmes on human rights education.
g) Afghan Medical Professional's Skill Enhancement Programmes Steps have been initiated to train Afghan doctors in India, as per the norms of Medical Council of India (MCI).
