DESCRIPTIVE REPORT OF THE EVENT

The first exhibition on wearable technologies

WTT, Wearable Tech Torino, is the first exhibition in Europe entirely dedicate dot wearable

technologies. With the term “ wearable technologies” we mean all those devices that, through the

collection and monitoring of vitals, allow them to become a useful to the needs of the user.

First free event of it’s nature, aimed towards the consumer, with the participation of 45 big, medium

companies and startups, will be held on the 20th and 21st of November In Turin. We predict 10000

visitors in 2500 square meter in Pavilion 5 of Lingotto Fiere.

The public will be allowed to try on and try out the exposed devices and to partecipate to conferences

and debates held by leading experts in the field. During the event there will be networking activities

with the objective of “creating a network” and create an Italian ecosystem of figures tied to the field of

wearables wether you are a manager, starter, business angel or journalist.

The WTT will be preceded by a series of events, both informal and technical, denominated Road to

WTT with the objective of maintaining a high focus on the wearable technology topic; it consists in set

of free meeting all held in collaboration with I3P, aimed towards involving a heterogeneous crowd of

aficionados, students and professionals.

Hackathon

An ulterior goal of WTT is to meet innovation halfway, which today is always more active. This is

possible thanks to our idea of moving “ from the concept to B2B”.

Wearable Tech Torino in fact will even allow programmer and anyone else who is interested to discover

the potential of wearable devices and to participate to a technological 48h marathon at I3P, Incubator

Innovative enterprises Politecnico, excellence at an international level which can pride itself of

collaborations with big companies in the field and has hosted many successful startups.

This competition, is solely dedicated to wearable technology, and will be held on the 14-15th of

November, exactly a week before the exhibition, to allow the winners to perfect their prototypes and

display them in front of an audience of managers, business angels and journalists during the closing

press conference, this will be for them a chance to find sponsors and financiers interested in the

opportunities of this new sector.

The Hackathon also foresees the participation of Microsoft and Arduino as technical partners which,

besides supplying the new Microsoft Band and the Arduino Lilypad Kit for wearables, will also supply

Mentors which will favor the integration of the new technology with the already existing ones.

The wearable market

Analyzing the potential sales of wearables, it is obvious that the data speaks clearly : since 2011, year in

which the first wearables devices appeared, the market has evolved exponentially. In four years we

estimate that there will be a total of half a million devices in circulation in the world divided in

smartwatches, fitness trackers and other devices.

Also in Italy the phenomena of wearable devices is ready for take-off. In 2015 we preview an increment

superior to 190%, for a total of 700 thousand sales. In 2018 almost 3 million devices will be delivered

in our country, with an average annual growth in 2014-2018 of 67%. The growth in terms of market

value will be even higher : in 2014 the income associated to wearable technology where around 27

million euros, we estimate an increase of 75% per year, and in 2018 the income will surpass 450 million

euros.

From this information it is clear that wearable technology will soon become the next great revolution

after smartphones in the consumer market, the objective of Wearable technology Torino and of our

team of Junior Entrepreneurs is to become the spokesmen of this novelty, bringing to Piedmont a type

of event destined to grow exponentially in the next years.
