Week beginning 8 th June 2020 Hello year 3!

We hope you’re well. It’s been great talking to you on the phone this week and seeing your fantastic work on Purple Mash. We’ve heard that lots of you have been enjoying the sunshine too! Did any of you see on the news that there was a rocket launched into space? We thought we’d make the science task related to space this week! Don’t forget, you can do all the homework from here on paper and send a photo to your teacher using 2Email on Purple Mash or save it to show your teacher when we’re back in class.

Things to remember:

There are 60 minutes in an hour. To find out minutes, you multiply the number the minute hand is after by 5 and

count up or you can count in intervals of 5 up to where the minute hand is. If the minute hand is before the 6 we say “__ minutes past the hour”. If the minute hand is after the 6 we say “__ minutes to the hour” We’re quickly going to learn some new words, including some fancy Latin ones.

Science: How to make a rocket at home!

You will need: a cork, vinegar, baking powder, tissue paper, some straws, and an empty bottle.

History:The Romans!!

Look at the pictures above and study them carefully. What can you learn about the Romans from these pictures? Do you think they are primary or

secondary sources? How do you know? D.T: create a pop up card! In the Autumn term, we made greetings cards. Can you remember some special techniques to make your card pop out? Think of someone you’d like to send a card to during lock down and make it pop up!
