Sometimes students find it difficult to begin the task of writing when staring at a blank piece of paper. These writing prompts are a way for students to begin the writing process in a structured way. The writing prompts in this pack include a phonic focus. Each prompt provides a list of 1, 2 and 3 syllable words that have the phoneme focus of ‘ae’. The words include the spellings: a, ai, ay, a-e, and ea. Page 3 provides a list of all the words used in the writing prompts. Students are required to incorporate the words provided on the prompt in their writing. This assists students with their vocabulary development. The writing prompts incorporate various text forms to allow students to practice writing in different ways. The following table summarises the text forms used.
