JOHANNESBURG INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDY AN INITIATIVE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF JOHANNESBURG AND NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY, SINGAPORE WRITING FELLOWSHIPS @ JIAS The Johannesburg Institute of Advanced Study (JIAS) invites applications for its initial Writing Term that will run from mid-February to mid-April, 2016. Suitably-qualified applicants from any field of study – including creative fields, the sciences, business and law – are welcome to apply for fourteen Writing Fellowships. Although we are attentive to the idea of “Advanced Study”, we believe that this pursuit is not limited by academic seniority or age. Please note that this is an open competition. Each Writing Fellow will have access to a live-in suite, enjoy entree to the facilities of the University of Johannesburg, and share in the community life of the institute. Two meals a day will be provided and a monthly stipend will be offered. Some travel funding will be available to South African- based scholars. Interested applicants should submit a two-page outline of their proposed writing project, a complete CV and the name and contact details of three referees. These should be send to [email protected] before November, 30th, 2015. JIAS, a joint initiative of the University of Johannesburg and Nanyang Technological University, is situated in an URBAN RETREAT that is situated in Johannesburg’s leafy suburbs between Melville and Westdene.
