The Advisor will provide advice about how to improve the energy rating of your home, the best place to locate solar hot water panels and photovoltaic panels, and how to reduce water consumption.

Solar envelope guidelines will improve solar access for your home.

Water Sensitive Urban Design principles will be incorporated through the use of swales, bioretention basins, water quality control ponds, tree pits and rain gardens for street trees.

Non-potable water will be captured and used to irrigate parklands.

SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES

Wright will be the first community of the new Molonglo Valley district. The Land Development Agency (LDA) will facilitate the establishment of new communities in the district with a Community Development program. The LDA will also continue to work with the range of existing users in the area, particularly outdoor recreation users.

Residents in Wright will have access to fast broadband connections through fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP) technology. This is in line with ACT Government policy which aims to ensure all residents of Canberra have the opportunity to enhance their lives through access to information technology and internet connectivity.

A wide range of block sizes with more than 50% larger than 500m2.

Grid design creates a walkable neighbourhood that disperses traffic and reduces vehicle trip lengths which will reduce carbon emissions.

Wide tree-lined streets.

Connections to a new school.

Regional network of pedestrian and cycle paths that connect Lake Burley Griffin, Civic Centre, Stromlo Forest Park, the Arboretum, and local shops.

Block and street design to optimise solar orientation.

Dwellings will be designed to overlook streets and parks to provide safety and surveillance of public places.

Enhanced landscaping will create a sense of place by expressing the past forestry and recreational use of Wright via vegetation planting and art works.
