Saturday, October 13th 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It’s almost here. The Annual Holiday Bazaar. Come, browse and stay for lunch. Bring your neighbors and family. There will be a variety of things to choose from. The Holiday Bazaar is a MAJOR FUNDRAISER for the Women of Pilgrim’s mission project, and your support is appreciated. Please consider donating baked goods for the bake sale and lunch. Suggested baked goods are: brownies, breads, pies, cakes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and cupcakes. Please bring your goodies to the Family Life Center on Friday October 12th from 4-8 p.m. or early Saturday morning, Thank you! We will have Raffle Baskets and items donated by the vendors. Tickets will sell for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Bring your family, friends and neighbors and get a head start on your Christmas shopping. Have a nice lunch with us and help us make this a success.

God’s Stewards Pay Attention To What God Is Doing

As you have been listening to my sermons on being God’s stewards, we have been hearing about how we as God’s people manage all that He gives us, our money, our time, our spiritual lives as “sinners and saints”. All this is done by His Spirit working in our lives as we have been called to faith. It is so easy for a congregation to always say that things are always bad, especially when it comes to support of our ministry with money. Money is essential in order to continue to have a functioning congregation. But it is never all about the money. When we fall into that trap we forget to see what God is doing in our midst. We don’t see our confirmation kids who are learning about our faith, we don’t see Jesus being taught to the many children in our Education center, we don’t see our youth ushering in church, and we don’t see the 8 children sitting up front during our children’s sermon. We take for granted those who give their time to make our Wednesday meals take place and those who faithfully prepare our sanctuary for worship each week. We miss that God is still working among us and blessing us. When we notice these things it helps us to be the cheerful givers that Paul says our God wants us to be. I personally want to thank all of you who, with generous hearts support what we are doing at Pilgrim. I am confident that Our Lord Jesus continues to bless His people wherever His Word and His sacraments are proclaimed and shared.

We have a lot of activities this month. Some dates have changed, so be sure to check the calendar each week. Our annual Salad Supper is on Tuesday, October 23, at 6:30 PM. We will be entertained by a musical group called "Ring of Flutes". Ed Kazmierski is a member. Look for an invitation in your narthex mailbox. The LWML Fall zone rally is on Sunday afternoon, October 21, at First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth. Look for the "poster" with information. We should have several carloads of ladies attending. Join your fellow Pilgrimites on Wednesday evenings for a light supper and fellowship. WOP will be serving casseroles on October 10thand bazaar leftovers on the 24th. And we hope you all attend the Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, October 13th. It's a good place to mingle, shop, and eat!!

LCMS Missionary Spotlight

Herman and Shei la Strozier Herman and Sheila Strozier serve the Lord as missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Eurasia region, based in the Czech Republic. As the Eurasia region’s business manager, Herman works closely with the Eurasia regional director to manage the financial and business affairs of the

LCMS in this part of the world. More specifically, Herman’s duties include supporting all LCMS missionaries serving in this region and working with local church partners on long-term mission projects.

Stinnett

Rev. Eric and Johanna Stinnett serve the Lord as missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Ethiopia. Eric accepted the call from the LCMS’ Office of International Mission (OIM) to teach at Mekane Yesus Seminary in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This seminary is dedicated to training faithful Lutheran pastors and other church workers to serve in Ethiopia.

Oktoberfest Join first Lutheran Church (420 N Washington, St., Papillion, NE) on October 13, 2018 for a fun filled day of German fun! They will be serving food from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. Adults are $8 and kids are $5. There will be a Polka Band, Bake Sale and Crafts!! All are welcome!
