It’s good to be home. Vacation went well. Many ask what a priest does on vacation. Well, we do just like everyone else: take a break from usual chores of life to

re-charge our batteries. Specifically, I usually spend the time fishing, so I be-come, for short time, more of a “fisher of fish” than a “fisher of men.” It is good to be back with batteries re-charged, and I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running as I begin my second year serving you. And yes, this month marks my first anniversary of being your pastor. Time has really flown! It has been a good year for our parish, as the transition from Fr. Steve’s pastorate has been smooth and certain-ly you all have been both welcoming and patient with me as I’ve learned about our parish, school, staff and of course, you, the people of St. Pius X Church. We’ve had some successes as well as a few bumps in the road. How-ever, my hope as your pastor is that in these experiences, whether joyful or not, we've all grown closer to Jesus

over the last year as we all continue our journey towards the destination of eter-nal life. In the end, that's all that really matters.

I want to thank all of you for making my job as pastor a joy. My assign-ment at St. Pius X has been a great blessing to me. Your patience and sup-port has been wonderful, and is very much appreciated. You all have made me a better person and priest over the last year, and have taught me much. My hope is that our St. Pius X Church community will continue to adapt and help to meet all of your spiritual needs on your journey through life. Thanks again for a great year!

Parish Registration During this time of year, when many of us catch up on things we couldn't get to during the busy school months, it's good to remember parish registration and its importance. In the past, we have had to address several issues that could have easily been avoided simply by registering at St. Pius X Church. Some people choose not to register in a parish for various reasons, however there are certain things about register-ing (or not registering) of which you should be aware.

Although parish registration is not re-quired to be a part of our community, it is certainly recommended and is an indicator of a formal commitment to our church community. There are cer-tain benefits of parish registration. Par-ish registration is used by our commu-nity to determine participation or eligi-bility criteria on certain things, such as the use of church facilities for wed-dings, participation in our sacramental preparation programs, and whether or not I can certify for another pastor that someone is a registered member of our community and actively practicing their faith (most often needed for some-one who wishes to be a Baptism or Confirmation sponsor). I cannot in good conscience certify that someone is an active and participating member of our community if I've never met them and there is no evidence of either attendance or participation in our com-munity. Registration, as well as the use of envelopes or online giving for offer-ings, helps with this. My hope is that all will register so that we can better serve our entire community. To regis-ter, forms are available at the Parish Office or online: https://stpiusxchurch.org/join-the-parish/.

ACTS is a parish-based retreat in which parishioners serve parishioners. The ACTS Retreat, an acronym for Adoration, Community, Theology and Service, began in the 1980’s in San Antonio, Texas. The retreat’s goals are to strengthen our faith and its application in our daily life, to renew our-

selves spiritually, to build strong, lasting friendships, and to grow in our relationship with our Lord, our parish and one another. The ACTS weekend is presented by lay Catholic men, with support provided by a Spiritual Director/companion or clergy. Parishioners who serve on ACTS re-treats strive to provide the opportunity for our parish com-munity to experience, become, and share the Body of Christ. Once parishioners attend a St. Pius X Parish ACTS Retreat, they can help serve on the upcoming retreat. Please consid-er this wonderful gift to yourself or someone you love.
