Have you ever watched a VHS and Blu-Ray copy of the same movie? Much like Blu-Ray, High Definition (HD) printing offers a far sharper image with greater clarity. The quality of offset printing depends on the following main factors:

LPI: A printer also uses a half-tone grid which is divided into cells containing half-tone spots. How close together these cells are in the grid is measured in lines per inch (LPI).

Worldwide’s High Definition printing uses almost twice the LPI of most commercial printers to provide optimal image reproduction. The finer screening gives you sharper text and graphics and smoother flat colours, just like Blu-Ray movies.

Our HD print is also printed to the latest ISO 12647-2 Colour specifications and constantly monitored to maintain consistent colour.

are a modern, fuss-free alternative to

agreements, petty cash receipts and any

other records.

Personalised for your business, our

carbonless books are available in DL,

A5 and A4 format (see page 18 for size

suitable depending on the printing method

and artwork specifications.

To make life easier we have a huge range

use. These templates accommodate our

standard print sizes and include bleed

where required.

We prefer to receive print ready artwork as

high resolution Adobe PDF files.

Jargon Busting – Understanding printing basics You’ll avoid time-consuming misunderstandings and expensive mistakes if you spend time getting to grips with at least the basic terms involved in printing processes and presses, paper and ink specifications, and finishing techniques.

Here are a few common terms to help you start speaking ‘printish’:

Alteration: Change in copy or specifications after production has begun.

Author’s corrections: Changes and additions to copy after it has been typeset.

Bleed: Printing that runs off to the edge of the sheet after trimming.

Colour separations: The process of preparing artwork, photographs, transparencies, or computer-generated art for printing by separating

into the four primary printing colours (CMYK).

Copy: All supplied material, hardcopy or disc used in the production of a printed product.

Crop marks: Printed lines showing where to trim a printed sheet.

Dummy: A rough layout of a printed piece showing position and finished size.

Four-colour process: The process of combining four basic colours to create a printed colour image.

Gloss: Shiny high lustre finish.

Gloss seal: A varnish or coating used to finish and protect your document.

Laminating: A thin transparent plastic coating applied to paper or board to provide protection and give it a glossy or matt finish.

Landscape: Work in which the width used is greater than the height. Also used to indicate the orientation of tables or illustrations which are

printed 'sideways'.

Matt: Flat low sheen finish.

Overrun or overs: Copies printed in excess of the specified quantity.

Perfect bind: A type of binding that glues the edge of sheets to a cover like a telephone book.

Press-ready artwork: Print-ready PDF to our specifications.

Portrait: Work in which the height used is greater than the width.

Process colours: Cyan (blue), Magenta (red), Yellow (yellow), Key (black).

Saddle stitch: Binding a booklet or magazine with staples where it folds.

Spot UV: Enhancing a specific element of your print with a super glossy overlay.
