Tirna Ray reports on the fifth edition of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, which was held in Lyon, France, from October 24-27. “With the world changing at a radical pace, the 21st century will need more entrepreneurs than ever in all domains. While the need to create more jobs is becoming imperative against an uncertain global economy, it is equally important to ensure that the jobs are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable. To achieve this goal, an entrepreneurial ecosystem is the future roadmap".

"Starting And Growing a Business - The Entrepreneur’s Global Guide”, filled out by the members of the World Entrepreneurship Forum — one of the most influential global network of business owners, social entrepreneurs and industry experts — is a round a world tour of entrepreneurial ecosystems highlighting, country per country, the 3 main factors that make it a good place to set up and run a business and the 3 main challenges still to overcome. (…) The world is not a level playing field and, whether we like it or not, it’s a fact some countries are much better than others at helping fledgling businesses turn into the Apple, Infosys or Facebook of the future.

(USA)

The energy of the world (…); The World is full of vitality as proved by the last edition of the World Entrepreneurship Forum organised recently in Lyon. (…) Entrepreneurship is a philosophy of life.

(FRANCE)

(...) Very innovative ideas have been debated at the World Entrepreneurship Forum gathering in France around 200 people from various countries. The aim of this group is to compare and share experiences on which ecosystems are more likely to stimulate entrepreneurship (...)

(BRAZIL)

Why is the World Entrepreneurship Forum a unique concept ?It embraces the globality of the entrepreneurial ecosystem– Business Entrepreneurs – Social Entrepreneurs – Policy Makers – Experts – Academics

A community of entrepreneurs from five continentsIt is a powerful global network of leaders selected for their achievements and commitment to society.

Every year, the Forum gathers over 250 participants, coming from 60 countries, willing to join their peers to think, act and transform their environment.

It is altogether a Think Tank and a Do Tank– We share the latest trends and issues about

global entrepreneurship.

– We develop ideas and recommendations aimed at promoting and spreading entrepreneurship worldwide.

– We facilitate entrepreneurial initiatives on a local or global scale.

Fostering a new humanismThe World Entrepreneurship Forum promotes the development of entrepreneurship creating wealth and social justice. This dual approach, economic and social, is one of the distinguishing features of the Forum.

SINCE 2008600 participants, 75 countries, 4 white papers, 50 listed best practices, 18 rewarded role models, 10,000 students attending Junior Forums in 18 countries, 150 press articles in 35 countries in 2012, 1 online collaborative platform, 5 founding partners from Europe and Asia.

Created by EMLYON Business School, KPMG France, the Singapore institutions Action Community for Entrepreneurship and Nanyang Technological University, Greater Lyon, the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Zhejiang University in China, the World Entrepreneurship Forum is the first worldwide forum devoted to the entrepreneur, creator of wealth and social justice.
