School Council News
Fruit is sold every playtime in the dining room and
it costs 20p per item. Children can choose from
apples, pears, bananas and oranges. Children in
KS2 can also bring in their own fruit or veg as a
snack.
Why fruit and veg are great:
Fresh fruit and vegetables are always the best snack
choice for your children – they contain vitamins and
minerals, are a good source of fibre and count
towards their 5 A Day. Plus, they're easy to eat on
the go!
The School Council are currently working with
Parent Forum to create a new packed lunch policy.
As we’re part of ‘Healthy Schools’ we want to make
sure everyone is bringing in healthy and nutritional
packed lunches and snacks.
Watch this space for more information from the
School Council team.

Year 6
Sex and Relationship Education As you know we only have a few weeks left before
SATs week which begins Monday 14th May. Our
children are working really hard on all aspects of
school life but our main focus over the next 7
weeks will be on English and maths.
With this in mind we have decided to move Year 6
SRE (Sex and Relationship Education) from this half
term, to after the SATs week. We are aware of how
important our SRE education is, particularly in
today’s climate, and we want to make sure that we
cover this learning well with our children. We just
want make you aware of this change in timing.
We have organised a live link that teachers can use
to show you the amazing STEM work that is
happening in the classrooms.
All you have to do is go onto Twitter and you can
see a live video of the experiments or work that
they are doing - some engineers are coming in too
to look at the work in class and give them some
critique on their projects.
This is the plan so far:

Stranger Danger We have been alerted by a local school about some
suspicious behaviour; a person approached a
secondary aged child and attempted to persuade
them to get into their car.
Please remind your children how to stay safe,
especially if they are secondary school age. The
advice is:
* Never accept gifts or sweets, accept a lift or go
anywhere with a stranger;
* Never go off on your own without telling a parent
or a trusted adult;
* Keep away from any car that approaches you, so
that no one can get hold of you, and you can run
away;
* Always tell a trusted adult if you have been
approached by a stranger;
* Remember the YELL, RUN, TELL rule, it is fine to
run and scream if you find yourself in danger;
* Avoid playing in dark or lonely places;
* Stay with friends and never wander off on your
own;
* Make sure that parents know where you are
going, and what time you will be back home.

Celebration Father Albert is celebrating his fortieth year in the
priesthood, there will be a special Mass to
celebrate! The date and time of the Mass is 1:00pm
on Sunday 15th April, it will be at St Catherine’s
Church on Melrose Road.
Father Albert would like the school to play a part
in the celebration, and has asked if some of our
children could lead one of the hymns? There will
not be a lot of space in Church that day, so Father
has requested that only 30 children attend.
If you would like to join Father Albert to celebrate
his 40th Anniversary, please complete and return
the reply slip below!
Celebration - 40 For the attention of Mrs Gillott
