The redesign of the facade was solved through the application of industrial glass. This allows the orchestration of the facade through an inner illumination. Single emer-ging show-cubes are used as exhibition space.

The task was to design a study- and research center in a commercial area, where an exhi-bition area, a workshop area, a cafeteria and the administration were to be integrated. The form of a praline served as inspiration. Behind an alluring cover hides the delicious core, i.e. a compact core was developed to suit all needs. This central structure is coated by a facade which serves as a protective skin and allows the thermal partition.

The idea of the design was a based on loose foliage, as found everywhere near trees in autumn. From this image the pavilion, loca-ted at the bank of the river Manzanares in Madrid, was developed. The intention was to revitalize the soul of the district and to create a common meeting point for the residents.

The area of the ‚Schindler-Award 2008’ is located in the city center of Vienna and is also the intercept point of four different districts. The weaknesses of this area are the sur-rounding multi-lane roads and the resulting noise pollution, as well as the metro passing through the area, the in parts diffuse surroundings, and the ground being polluted by toxins. The big strengths are the parks and the ‘Green Belt’ on the east side. In order to bolster up the advantages of the area, to compensate the wea-knesses, and to create an attractive living and activity area, the ‘Green Belt’ will be continued as far as the west side. This ‘Green Belt’ is desig-ned to offer enough room for walk-ways through the area, to plant ve-getation, for noise protection and to allow for the access for the deman-ded ‘Community Center’, ‘Business’ and ‘Residential’.

The German City of Forchheim searched for a new way to use the old public swimming pool, as well as for the fallow area near the old battlement. The idea of the design was to affi liate the loft-apartments in the south of the park and to erect the building in the north around the swimming pool.

As the U.S. Forces pull out of parts of Germa-ny, many barracks in the cities are being aban-doned. The approach was to string the buil-dings in a parallel positi-on like freight trains. Sub-sequently, laboratories or storage buildings can be connected to the single buildings. In the west of the area three pavilions present a meeting point for laborers and visitors.

The planning area – the former winterdock – used to serve as a dock for shipping in Magdeburg. Characteristically for that time were the ships transporting goods for the heavy industry. On the historical photograph one can see such ships, which are pulled through the water consecutively like on a string. This picture was the inspiration to arrange the buildings in a similar archetype. In the same manner as the ships, the structure was to be continued like on a string. This form, sliding from the bank into the water, is not only a historical fi gure of the shipping in Magdeburg, but also connects the land with the inner harbor and furthermo-re links the existing buildings with the newly constructed “Living-slab” for students.
