A level walk takes you into the heart of the village of Parkam with its picture postcard 15th century parish church, popular village pub “The Bell Inn”, that was refurbished in 2018, butcher G E Honey & Son and well regarded primary school.

The market town of Bideford is within a short drive and offers a traditional Pannier Market holding both produce and craft markets twice weekly. Many antique shops are scattered amongst the narrow backstreets and alleyways that lead up from the attractive quayside and River Torridge. The tree-lined quay still bustles with fishing vessels, cargo and pleasure boats with regular trips to Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel, about 12 miles away. Bideford is the administrative centre for Torridge with a good range of local and national retailers as well as the banks, building societies, a post office and plethora of cafes and bistros.

The seaside resort of Westward Ho! boasts glorious golden sand that stretches over 2 miles towards the mouth of the Taw and Torridge rivers. Directions

Exit M5 at Junction 27 take the A361 signposted Barnstaple/Tiverton. After approximately 35 miles arrive at Barnstaple then follow the directions below.

From Barnstaple Join the A39 and head to Bideford. Immediately after the Torridge Bridge, at roundabout, turn left towards Bideford and continue through the town. Continue along the Quay and proceed straight ahead at the

next two mini-roundabouts towards Torrington. After approximately 1.5miles, turn right signposted Littleham and Buckland Brewer. Follow this road without deviation for approximately 4 miles and take the second turning to Parkham at Parkham Cross into Brewers Hill. Following this road up the hill, continue into the village and bear left passing the Church on your right hand side. Continue on this road, past “The Bell Inn Pub” on your left and Stanley Court will be found on your right hand side just after the Village Hall.
