What is WCAIS?

WCAIS is a web-based information system integrating the business functions of three Labor & Industry program areas:

• Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC)• Workers’ Compensation Office of

Adjudication (WCOA)• Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board

(WCAB)

What you can do now in WCAIS:

• Self-register in WCAIS • Search for an appeal, claim, dispute, hearing,

petition, opinion, individual and organization• File an appeal• File a WCAB petition• Upload and view documents• View correspondence and status• Submit general inquiry, information for fatal

accident, and non-reported injury to helpline online

What to expect after Release 2:

• BWC, WCOA, WCAB and interested parties will access a common electronic case file

• Security role will determine what can be viewed and what actions can be taken in WCAIS

• Electronic filing of FROI and many SROI through EDI• Web portal for filing single documents• Self-insurance process is fully automated• Hearing schedules are online• Correspondence can be delivered electronically

1. Visit WCAIS at www.wcais.pa.gov• Select “Are You A New User?” on home page• Complete registration steps• Select a password2. Present Pennsylvania attorney ID card and current

photo ID at WCOA or BWC Helpline3. Helpline will approve registration and provide

Keystone ID in an email

What is a WCAIS law firm administrator?

An administrative staff person or an attorney in a law firm who manages the firm’s account in WCAIS by

• Performing administrative functions • Managing staff and attorney access to matter(s)

in WCAIS

What is the role of the law firm administrator?

•Approves the self-registration requests of other staff in the law firm•Provides pin number to attorneys so they can associate themselves with the law firm•Manages access to matter by other attorneys and staff•Disassociates attorneys from the law firm•Resets passwords, modifies user profiles and the organization profile
