The Red Hook Yacht Club, located in Brooklyn, NY provides a unique urban sailing environment where young and old can nurture a passion and excel in the sport. Inspired by European galleons of the 17th and 18th
centuries, the clubs decor and layout express various elements of these vessels.

RECEPTION
Visionade is an outpatient facility for children with visual impairment that encourages independence by creating wayfi nding that refl ects and delivers that independence. The concept is derived from the lemon. Often, a child’s fi rst entrepreneurial job is making a lemonade stand. They are seemingly creating something ‘on their own’ however, they are really assisted by their parents who help them make the lemonade and help them in the creation of the stand. This facility will mimic that - allowing children the sense of freedom and independence, with the guide and aid of parents, teachers and therapists at this family oriented facility.
When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade! The saying transpires within the plan. Wayfi nding is created to allow a child to pass from room to room, fl oor to fl oor on their own. This, not only facilitates in their learning, but their sense of well being and independence as well. Thus, wayfi nding happens in several ways. It is the shape of the lemon, colors of the lemon, textured like the rind, and evoke smells as well.
This journey for children ‘making lemonade’ makes a child use all their other senses, but not just the familiar ones, like touch, taste, smell and hear. This facility and through the use of the concept of the lemon, will use their sense of rhythm, movement, sense of life, warmth and sense of self.
