Joining WFDC was an amazing thing that happened to me because I am learning new things every day and meeting new people. The employees are nice and care about each other and teamwork. I never thought I would be doing stuff like this – it’s not just for work – its also helping me to get credits for school. This experience has been phenomenal – I like to be at WFDC every day and seeing the people I work with. I am really thankful for everything. I wouldn’t have done it without the help and support to take advantage of this program. JANUARY 1/13/2017 - We would like to take the opportunity, on behalf of the Board, staff and Kamiak and Mariner High School Student Apprentices of Work Force Development Center (WFDC), to express our sincere gratitude for the generous and unwavering support of the City Council and Mayor of Mukilteo. For the past two years, via the Community Support Grant process, the Mukilteo Finance Committee, City Council members and Mayor have offered support to the disabled, economically disadvantaged and at risk high school students participating in our Aerospace Assembly Mechanic Apprenticeship Program at WFDC. We are currently providing apprenticeships to 9 Mukilteo School District students who will receive training and high school credit while earning minimum wage during their high school day. Upon graduation, these young people will also receive job placement assistance from WFDC. Last year, the City of Mukilteo Community Support Grant funded Emergency Preparedness Kits for our apprentices. This year, the City of Mukilteo Community Support Grant will put new Palm Drills into the apprentices’ hands to expand the scope and efficacy of their apprenticeship hours here at WFDC. Words cannot suffice to express the gratitude of the staff and students when they see, in such concrete ways, the caring and commitment of the leadership of the community in which they live. Thank you for making such a meaningful contribution to those who need it most. FEBRUARY 2/13/2017 – WFDC welcome 23 new student trainees to our Aerospace Assembly Mechanic Apprenticeship Program who hail from ten schools across Snohomish County. These new trainees will join the 47 student trainees already working on the production floor in late March. 2/28/2017 – WFDC won the 2017 Human Needs grant to support our Aerospace Assembly Apprenticeship Program from the City of Everett Planning and Community Development Department MARCH 3/3/2017 A wonderful time was had by all who attended our 25 th Anniversary Open House! We had parents, school liaisons, former Trainees, representatives from Boeing, Skills Inc., Approach Management as well our board members in attendance. A special thank you goes out to NFL alumni Robin Earl (Chicago Bears) and Alonzo Mitz (Seattle Seahawks) who stopped by to sign autographs and encourage our trainees to strive to achieve their dreams. We are so grateful to Everett City Council President Judy Tuohy, City of Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson, representing Senator Patty Murray, Ann Seabott and Boeing Senior Manager of the Community Manufacturing Project Joanna Thomson for sharing a few words of encouragement with our trainees as well.

What’s New at WFDC? WFDC SAFETY ZONE Please join us in congratulating WFDC Student Trainee Nate R. who won the “Safe at

WFDC” award for February 2017! Nate R. placed a safety suggestion in the suggestion box, which was implemented by the WFDC Safety Committee! As a result, he won a gift card and was recognized at our Monthly Staff Safety Training. We appreciate all suggestions, demonstrating commitment to safety and care for our

trainees and colleagues!

obvious to all at WFDC that Zach is an extraordinary worker. He has a

positive attitude, shows enthusiasm towards the work, has a passion for

it, is very intelligent but more than that, I’ve noticed that he is an

amazing teacher to his classmates. He is very patient and thorough.

We are all impressed with his gift for teaching.” “Zach is an awesome

worker. He does well without direct supervision.” “Zach is a quick

learner. He asks questions when he isn’t sure about what we are doing.
