And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of the hill. It turned out that whenever Moses raised his hands, Israel was winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, Amalek was winning. But Moses’ hands got tired. So, they got a stone and set it under him. He sat on it and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on each side. So, his hands remained steady until the sun went down. Joshua defeated Amalek and its army in battle.” What is Prayer? Prayer means different things to different people. In the Christian faith, prayer could be understood as follows: “Prayer is the opportunity to transcend the world in any given moment and connect with what is True and Real. When one decides to pray, one is choosing to step aside from all that seems to be happening and seek connection with their Father.” “Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God.” “Prayer is simply communicating with God—listening and talking to him. Believers can pray from the heart, freely, spontaneously, and in their own words.” “Prayer is spiritual communication between man and God, a two-way relationship in which man not only talks to God, but also listen to Him. Prayer to God is like a child’s conversation with his father.” In God’s original design, the church is meant to be “a house of prayer for all nations.” Therefore, a prayerful church is an influential church, and a prayerless church is a powerless church. When the church prays, great things happen: sinners are converted, miracles take place, church ministries flourish, the Word of God is proclaimed, healings take place, disciples are strengthened, the Holy Spirit empowers the church for the Great Commission, God blesses His people and makes His Presence awesome among them. The Trumpet is blown in Zion—a clarion call to the people of God in Gambrell Street Baptist Church to pray. The spirit of prayer is hovering over GSBC; the Lord is ready to do something New with us, through us and among us. Be part of this move of God in GSBC. Don’t be left out of this brilliant move of God. Make yourself available to pray. Invite others to join you in prayers. Form a praying group. Be burdened for what God is ready to do in GSBC and through GSBC. Like Aaron and Hur in Exodus 17:10-13, let us arise to lift the hands of our pastor and the missions of GSBC in prayers. When the hands of leaders are stayed up in prayers, great things are accomplished for the Kingdom of God. The Lord our God is moving GSBC into the next phase of ministry. Outstanding visions are fulfilled, and impressive missions are accomplished in the atmosphere of prayer. THE PRAYER ROOM IS OPEN FOR ALL. GO IN AND HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH THE LORD. SHALOM.
