2nd Grade
The third quarter is off to a good start
and we are increasing our effort to learn
everything we need to learn. We have been
working on measurement, both US customary
and metric, and on using strategies to help
solve word problems. In English, we all have
been working with all parts of sentences and
putting them together to make good
paragraphs. In reading we all are using the
selections to make comparison. We are using
Venn Diagrams to help us with this. We are
also reading different versions of the same
story to use to compare and contrast. Please

7th & 8th Social Studies
Basketball season is winding down and our
teams are having to play some big schools at the
end of the year. Most of the teams that are left
have only 8th graders on their team, while both our
boys and girls teams have 6th, 7th and 8th
graders. Thunderbolt in Lake Havasu has 1200
kids in 7th and 8th grade. Le Pera has 46. It is fun
and challenging to try and pull off a big upset like
that. It had been enjoyable to be at practice and
watch players improve. In junior high social
studies we have now moved on to the executive
branch of government. We are studying what
qualifications you need to be President, what are
the powers and jobs that a President has and who
