W: We can sit here on the grass (plant- ground – eaten by animals). Someone forgot to throw (pushing

your hand forward object – letting go) empty (nothing inside) paper back (return to place) away (sb

leaves or stays distance from a place or person) . There are litter (waste paper, cans – thrown away

ground) everywhere (every place)

M: Why (ask or talk the reason for sth) do people always leave (go away form place or person) litter

around (surrounding all sides of sth or sb? It’s not nice thing to do. It spoils (bad effect on sth – no

longer attractive, enjoyable, useful) other (refer-second of two people or things) people’s picnic

W: I think (particular opinion or believe –sth true) they are a lazy (not any effort to do anything) or

maybe they just (exactly) don’t care (looking after sb). Look (see), they are some empty cans (metal

container which food, drink, without air) and glass bottles (container-keep liquids- plastic or glass)

under (below or at a lower level than sth) that tree, too

M: People should clean up (process-rid-waste-from place) before they leave, and not leave little lying

around

W: That’s right. Well, after our picnic, let’s pick up (collection) all the litter we can and take it out of

here

M: Ok, and next week, let’s come back with friend and pick up some more

W: Good idea

a desire for sth) to pay (give sb money for sth you buy or service) an extra (more of sth) 50 cents each

time you buy (get sth by paying money for it) a cup of coffee? That’s a lot of money

M: 50 cents, it’s only five cents extra for a paper (material –used for writing, wrapping things) cup

W: I thought it was 50 cents

M: No, it’s only five cents. Don’t worry. And you can get (receive sth that someone give me or send

me) your money back when (at what time) you will return (come back) the cup

W: That’s fair (reasonable, acceptable).Well, Maybe the goverment is right after all. I’ll return all the

paper coffee cups I use (do something with that tool, by means of that method) from (starting at place

or position) now on

M: Good! We all need to recycle. If helps to keep (not change) the environment clean

Roses: flower – pleasant smell- red, pink, white or yellow

M: Excuse (want to get someone’s attention politely, especially when you want to ask a question)

me,ma’am. I have a problem (situation that causes difficulties) with my rose bush (plant-branches-grow

up –ground). It used to (it happened regularly or all the time in the past, but doesn’t happen now)

produce ( cause particular result or effect) a lot of pink (pale red) roses. But now (at the present time) it

doesn’t produce any flowers at all

W: I see (notice or examine sb or sth, using your eyes). That does seem like a problem. Do the leaves

on the plant (living thing that leave and roots grows in earth, smaller tree) look (turn your eye towards

sth, see it) healthy (physically strong)

M: Not really. The leaves used to be very green. Now, most of them have turned (move your body-

different direction) brown.

W: Well, I think your rose bush needs (to have sth or sb, because you cannot do sth without them)

some fertilizer

M: Ok, What sort (kind/type) of fertilizer do you think I should use?

W: This liquid (not solid or gas, for example water or milk) fertilizer is very good (high standard or

quality). It will help make your rose leaves green again. Then the plant should produce roses quite

soon. The fertilizer costs (money-have to pay in order to buy) about ten dollars

M: How long will it take for my rose bush to recover (get better after illness, accident)?

W: About two week, I think

M: Great (successful), I’ll take it. Thank you so much for your help (giving them sth they need)

W: You’re welcome

Do you know (to have information about sth) a good area (part of a country, town etc) for (used to say

who is intended to get or use sth) birds?

W: There is a quite (very, but not extremely) park (large area with grass and trees, people walk, play

game) near (short distance from a person or thing) here. There are always many beautiful (extremely

attractive to look at) birds there (used to say that sth exists or happens)

M: Will I be able to (to have the skill, strength, knowledge..needed to do sth) see a different type of

birds in this area?

W: Yes, I think so. If (used when talking about sth that might happen or be true) you use binoculars

(pair of special glasses-look at object-long distance away), you can see the birds, if even (emphasize sth

that is unexpected or surprising) they are far away

M: Great, I have a book about all the different types of birds

W: It seem (qualities or facts that make people think true) that as if you really like bird watching. Yes, I

do.

M: Would you like to come (go) with me tomorrow (the day after today)?

W: No, thank you. I think bird watching is boring (not interesting in any way)

M: That’s not true (based on facts and not imagined). Bird are very interesting. Some birds has colorful

(a lot of different colours) feather (one of the light soft thing that cover a bird’s body). Some birds sing

without touching it) five hundred years old. Several (a number of person or things is more than a few,

but not a lot) kind (one of the different types of the person or thing that belong to the same group) of

trees grow in the forest. Fir (a tree with leaves shaped like needles – not fall off in winter), cedar (large

tree with leaves shaped like needles) and pine (a tall tree with long hard sharp leaves that do not fall of

in winter) are three. These trees grow (increase in amount, size, number or strength) in different area.

Some grow in forests. Some grow on the mountains (very high hill). People who lived (if you live in a

place, you have your home there) in this place long ago (how far back in the past sth happened) used

these trees to make things out (preposition, from the inside to the outside of sth) of (show what a part

belongs to or comes from) wood (the material that trees are made of). Many of these trees are now in

special areas. These areas are called (telephone someone) forest reserve or national (someone who is a

citizen of a particular country but is living in another country) parks. Some parks charge (the amount of

money you have to pay for goods or services) a small entrance (a door, gate that you go through to

enter a place) fee (an amount of money that you pay to do sth or pay to professional person for their

work). Visitors ( someone who comes to visit a place or person) must pay a fee to enter (to go or come
