Barking up the right tree WOOF! was born out of my own efforts to heat our cottage, and cook, using only wood as fuel. Cutting and stacking firewood was rewarding, but didn’t really fit the demands of modern life – for the amount we needed, it was an arduous task. I had to use lethal weapons (chainsaws, axes); it was noisy; I got cold and wet; and despite planning ahead there was never quite enough in the log store come the bleak mid- winter. It also seemed that whenever we had to bring in the logs it was cold, dark and there really was something nasty in the woodshed. I was a bit defeated. While it’s generally acknowledged in our household that burning fossil fuels is a bad thing, the choice between global warming and fetching the firewood (wet, muddy and covered in creepy crawlies) was a tough one. So now, with our pick- and-mix environmentalism put firmly to one side, we successfully heat and cook using only wood. Our ammunition for the wood burner and range cooker comes from the brilliant arsenal of wood fuels now available from WOOF! Barking up the right tree

WOOF! was born out ofmy own efforts to heat ourcottage, and cook, usingonly wood as fuel. Cuttingand stacking firewood wasrewarding, but didn’t reallyfit the demands of modernlife – for the amount weneeded, it was an arduoustask. I had to use lethalweapons (chainsaws, axes);it was noisy; I got cold andwet; and despite planningahead there was neverquite enough in the logstore come the bleak mid-winter. It also seemed thatwhenever we had to bring in

the logs it was cold, dark andthere really was somethingnasty in the woodshed. Iwas a bit defeated.

While it’s generallyacknowledged in ourhousehold that burningfossil fuels is a bad thing, the choice between globalwarming and fetching thefirewood (wet, muddy andcovered in creepy crawlies)was a tough one.

So now, with our pick-and-mix environmentalismput firmly to one side, we successfully heat andcook using only wood. Our

ammunition for the woodburner and range cookercomes from the brilliantarsenal of wood fuels nowavailable from WOOF!

Our wide range of clean, dry, convenient, ready-to-burn fuels will inspireanyone who wants to getmore from their wood-burning or multi-fuel stove, solid fuel cooker or openfire. Try them! You’ll beamazed at the differencethey make to the outputand efficiency of your stove.

Our productsKiln-dried logs

s High-quality hardwood logs, dried in a kiln to produce firewood that’s easy to light and burns with extra heat

s Kiln-dried wood has several benefits over regular seasoned timber:– it generates greater heat output– it gives better fuel efficiency– it’s more economical– it minimises stove and flue problems

s Sourced from sustainable woodland in Herefordshire

Leaf logs

s Made from harvested fallen leaves

s Really easy to use – simply light the paper wrapper and enjoy nearly three hours of bio-fuel warmth. Burn as hot ascoal and three times longer than wood

s Suitable for use in stoves, chimineas, multi-fuel burners and open fires –anywhere you would usually use coal or wood

s Sold individually and in cartons of 12

Eco fuel logs

s These are made from clean, virgin timber sawmill by-products, which would otherwise go to landfill

s This sawmill residue is compacted under high pressure and heat. Duringthis process, ligin from the wood is liquified. When it cools it re-solidifies and binds the wood together in a pellet or briquette

s The logs are suitable for specialist boilers and domestic wood-burningand multi-fuel stoves

s They are dry – just 10% moisture –and burn consistently

s They are considered to be carbon neutral or ‘carbon lean’

s We sell different eco-fuel logs for different needs:– Blazers: fuel logs, good flame, high

heat, no sparks.– Heatabix: heat-rich logs, great

everyday burning.– Woofers: pure hardwood, big stove

heat, nice aroma.– Bark logs: heat performance for up

to 10 hours!– Rastafire: hemp logs for truly

sustainable home heating

Kindling and firelighters

s Kindling is essential for starting a really good fire. When combined with our natural fire lighters, it makes setting the stove a straightforward and simple task

s Our ‘Certainly Wood’ kindling is made from poplar wood, comes in great big bags and is kiln-dried and sustainable

s It’s ideal for lighting open fires, multi-fuelstoves, barbeques and fire pits

s Our ‘Ugly Kindling’ is also perfect for allthese uses, but it’s made from recycled wood and comes in all shapes and sizes. It comes in a big bag, giving you great value for money

s ‘Flamers’ natural firelighters are made offine wood shavings (from sustainable sources), spun and dipped in wax

s They have a strong, long burn time and make fire lighting an easy pleasure. Theyare great for all wood burning stoves and for lighting the barbeque

s There are no nasty kerosene smells andthey’re safe to handle

s ZIP natural firelighters are made from wood fibre and wax and are kerosene-free and odourless. They burn for about14 minutes and light with one match

Please note that Flamersand ZIP firelighters can

only be delivered withanother order over £60

Wood pellets

s Our 6mm pellets are made from pure debarkedtimber with no added chemicals or binders. They carry the FSC label for sustainability and conform to European quality standards

s They are designed to flow well through mechanical augers and suction tubes

s They light easily, burn brightly and release heat consistently

s Available in bags of 10 or 15kg, whichare easy to handle, stack and store

s We have developed a streamlined delivery system to maximise convenience and can deliver pellets in bags or bulk. We deliver locally in smaller vehicles, usually Transit-sized, and the driver will help you to take the bags to your storage area
