February 22nd, 2015 First Sunday of Lent

Each year, the Gospel Reading for the first Sunday of Lent begins with the story of Jesus’ temptation in the desert. While Mark’s account is sparse in detail, the important point is clear: Jesus emerged from the desert victorious, defeating Satan and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God. As we make our way through the desert will we emerge victorious at Easter? We can if we allow Christ to recreate us. Admit we are in need of His help and then allow Him to work in us and through us. Let us leave our fear in the desert so that we may rise to any occasion God calls us to.
