Principal’s Message:
Dear Woodward Families,
February is the month for many celebrations.
Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, and
Counselor’s week to name a few. Please take
time to speak with your child about the
reasons for these celebrations. Do you know
who invented the stop light, pace maker, or the
light bulb? Who is Dr. Shirley Jackson?
Thank you to Mrs. Warren and Ms. White for
their efforts in meeting the needs of our
students and families with supports in the area
of counseling and social work. We appreciate
all that you do!!!
Sincerely,
Dr. Carla F. Cunigan

Mrs. Warren, School Counselor
In 1976, President Gerald Ford made Black History Month ”official”, saying that he was urging everyone to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” Every February since 1976, the United States has celebrated the achievements of African-Americans during Black History Month. The month-long celebration puts those accomplishments and milestones in focus via the media and in classrooms. We would like to invite you to join our morning assemblies in
February where we will share about an African -American achiever.
