It's December, can you believe it? The holiday activities are in full swing and so is the season for giving. We encourage our students to give to those in need this time of year. This Thursday, December 7th, is our "Cans for Cocoa." During the lunch hour, kids can bring canned food, cash, or new clothes to which then is donated to our local pantry. Woodstock PTA will be serving hot cocoa to all students. I can't thank our volunteers enough for the time and effort you give back to our school. We wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and great winter break with your families. Cans - Cash - Clothes for Cocoa

Thursday, December 7th

It’s time for our annual food drive to support the Granite Education Foundation food pantry program. Many schools in our area serve high refugee populations and the GEF supplies these families with basic necessities including food and clothing. This year we are asking for donations of food, cash and new clothes.

Please send your donations with your student to school on Thursday. If you are sending money, we can only take cash donations. Please put any money in a sealed envelope.

Your continued generosity has made this a wonderful event for our students to take part in year after year. And because helping others gives us the warm fuzzies, ALL Woodstock students will get a cup of hot chocolate with all the trimmings during lunch.

If you would like to help serve hot chocolate please contact Amanda at [email protected].

Requested food items:● Spaghetti Sauce & Noodles● Granola Bars● Canned fruit or fruit cups● Soup/Spaghetti-Ohs (pop tops)● Ravioli● Canned Chicken/Tuna● Easy Mac & Cheese● Small bags of rice (2lbs)● Capri Suns

Please leave the green beans and water-chestnuts at home. Think of foods that kids like and can easily make themselves.

Requested NEW clothing donations:● Shoes: Little Boys & Girls sizes 6-13,

Girls size 1-3● Pants: Little Boys sizes 5-12, Girls size 16● Shirts: Boys & Girls sizes 5-14● Socks: ALL sizes

The GEF can only distribute NEW clothing. We appreciate any help you can give.

Green Team

If you helped tend the garden this summer, please stop by the PTA room and pick up a thank you gift from the Green Team. They are in a box on the counter. Thank you so much!

Principal’s Message

Hello Woodstock Families,

One of my goals as the new principal this year is to help kids feel safe and happy each day when they come to school. As we have now completed a third of the school year, I have noticed some matters of security that I would like to see improved. The following expectations will be implemented this week.

1. Door access. All of the doors, with the exception of the south set of the front doors will be locked.

2. All visitors to the school will be asked to sign-in at the front office and receive a visitor’s sticker.

3. Before school, students are to line up with their class on the playground in the back of the school. Students may not enter the building until the first bell (which rings at 8:10 am).

4. Parents, it is recommended that you say good-bye to your student when s/he lines up with his/her class to go into the building.

5. If you feel it is necessary to walk your student to their class or locker, you may come into the office after the first bell, sign-in, and get a visitor’s badge.

6. The beginning of school is a very busy time for teachers. If you need to speak to your child’s teacher, please make an appointment ahead of time (e-mail is the best way to reach the teacher).

7. After school, Junior high/high school students will be asked to wait outside for their siblings.

8. Parents/guardians will need to come into the office to check out a student early. Please bring ID.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Although safety/security is and will always be one of my top priorities, I also want families to know that you are always welcome in the school. Woodstock is fortunate to have many involved parents, families, and other community members. I do not want any of these measures to take away from the support. My hope is that we can all work together to increase safety while at the same time maintaining the Woodstock sense of community. Sincerely, Brenda ZimmermanPrincipalWoodstock Elementary385-646-5108
