Environmental Phase — Finished: • $300 million investment. • Producing low-sulfur fuels. • Increased refining capacity. • Reduced emissions. • Decreased flaring and odors.
Vehicles using our low-sulfur fuels have: Reduced SO2 ~ 90% (about700 tons per year) Reduced NOX ~ 80% (about 700 tons per year)

Understand There Will Be Impacts Rail loading and unloading Increased truck traffic
Solutions We Are Implementing Rail switches on our line done by 8 pm.
Anticipate trucks will have latest emission controls; implementing a no-idling while loading policy; participating in a transportation options study. Held a job fair in West Bountiful; communicate with workers our way of doing business and the importance of our actions in the community.

Odor: • Waste-water plan implemented. • Sealed manholes downstream of flume house. • Installed new seals in wastewater tanks. • Improvements to treat wastewater. • Installed a weather system to help investigate complaints. • Implemented an odor complaint response process. • Resident complaints significantly reduced.
Activities & Processes Flaring:
• Vital part of running safely. • White clouds are water vapor or steam from cooling towers. • Flow monitors were installed to better control steam in flare. • Propane flare replaced with a cleaner-burning air assisted flare, now
decommissioned with the closing of the propane storage unit.. • South flare temporarily shut down and everything diverted to north flare. • North flare has new larger knockout vessel. • Resident complaints about noise and light reduced.

Home Purchasing: • Historically several residents on 200 North expressed a desire. • Opened this option up to be a good neighbor. • No current plan; just listening to what the city and residents want. • Currently renting purchased homes. • Refinery has hired a company to keep up the homes and yards. • Encouraging refinery employees to move in – live, work and play in neighborhood.

Safety: • Continual and scheduled inspection and maintenance program for equipment. • Ongoing monitoring of equipment. • Tag in/tag out system. • Intensive safety program and training. • Strong emergency response program and team. • New siren system installed. • Hold internal and coordinated drills. • Hold CAER meetings. • Offer training. • Crisis response plans in place.
Local emergency responders will notify you in an emergency: They will utilize reverse 911, vehicle blow horns and door-to-door. They can also use our voice command system.
