The History of the World Cup

Academy by AMsportstours

The World Cup Academy by AMsportstours originated in South Africa in 2010 when over 100 young players enjoyed coaching, a foreign experience with other kids & families and live World Cup Games in Cape Town South Africa.

The second World Cup Academy took place in Buzios, just outside Rio De Janeiro in 2014 during the World Cup in Brazil where over 600 players, parents and coaches enjoyed a fabulous experience at the World Cup.

The 2015 Girls-Only World Cup Academy in Canada is our first Academy which will allow USA players, parents and coaches to attend Live games in the last 16 and quarter final stages. All coaches are pro or college coaches offering the highest level of training.

AMsportstours in Brazil! AMsportstours hosted the World Cup

Academy in Buzios and Rio de Janeiro this

summer.

This was the biggest youth sports project held

in Brazil during the World Cup and proved to

be an unbelievable experience for the 600

people who attended.

The Academy was based in the beautiful city

of Buzios and included trips to Rio, training

with top coaches and playing against

Brazilian players. A phenomenal experience!

AMsportstours World Cup Academy in Brazil

also included tickets to some of the best

games of the tournament. The 600 people on

the trip saw Messi score, Chile beating the

former World Champions Spain, a stunning

Germany vs. France quarter final and

witnessed the goal of the tournament when

James Rodriguez scored the stunning volley

against Uruguay!

Future World Cups…... AMsportstours Women’s World Cup Academy in

Canada will be a fantastic experience not to be

missed and a great opportunity to be part of the

world cup in a country with a strong passion for

soccer.

The next World Cup is likely to be in either South

Korea or South Africa. The benefit of the Canada

World Cup is that it is next door to the USA so travel

time will be a lot less than travelling to these two

countries. The cost of travelling will be a lot less also.

for this trip due to the room allocation at the hotel so

the first 300 people to register will secure the trip at

$1995.00 (based on 3 or 4 sharing a room). The next

300 spaces will be at a price of $2995.00 per person.

Packages include 6 night in Whistler/Vancouver

the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Whistler is a

beautiful town an hour outside Vancouver

which provides a fantastic environment.

Tickets are included for the last 16 and quarter

final in the BC Place Stadium, Vancouver

The training program will be suitable for all

players from recreational to elite and all sessions

will be delivered by college and pro coaches

Mini tournaments will involve Canadian players

from the host city and allow the girls to

showcase their talents at the 2015 Women’s

World Cup

Groups – how they work

The girls will be placed in training groups

of similar age, experience and ability.

Players from all over the USA, Canada

and other countries will be taking part in

the camp and due to our good

relationship with Canadian Clubs in the

area, there will be sufficient players in

every training group to form teams.

The girls will play in at least 3 games.


for brothers of the players The World Cup Academy is Girls Only However as we have had many families

contact us about brothers of the players

wanting to train and play we are running

sessions for the boys at separate time to the

girls.

They will not take part in the girls games or training sessions.

Package for Under 6’s For those who have children who are 6 years

old and under at the time of travelling, there is

a special price for you. The cost for anyone who falls into this age bracket will be $500.00.

Please register them as normal and the price

will be adjusted by AMsportstours.

Whilst we create the most incredible soccer experience

for your child at the Women’s World Cup in Canada, we

are very committed to creating the most relaxed, flexible

and interesting experience for the parents and families.

Austin founded AMsportstours 8 years ago and is the

Managing Director of the company.

Austin played professional soccer in Scotland,

Romania and Japan and in College in USA. Following

the end of his career he started AMsportstours and

combined this with starting his own soccer club,

AMsoccer which has grown to be Scotland’s leading

Youth Soccer Club.

In addition, Austin started a professional coaching

career, leading local side Cupar Hearts to the

National Final, then winning back to back promotions

with Cowdenbeath before joining Scottish

Premiership side St. Mirren where they won their first

trophy in 27 years. Austin recently moved on to

Northern Ireland where he was appointed assistant

coach for the Euro 2016 campaign.

Austin has led tours all over the World and will

coordinate the trip with other staff for the duration of

your tour. Austin most recently led tours for the UAE

National team to Germany and is Directing the World

Cup Academy in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Austin MacPhee

Coaches at the Camp Helena Costa

Former Head Coach, Qatar & Iran

Helena Costa is a Portuguese football manager

who was the first female to be appointed as coach

of a French professional club and also the first in

any of Europe's top two tiers. She is the former

Head Coach of the Women’s National Teams of

Qatar and Iran and also of Benfica.

Michael O’Neill

Manager, Northern Ireland National Team

Michael O’Neill enjoyed a successful playing

career with clubs such as Newcastle United,

Dundee United and Reading FC. He was capped

31 times for Northern Ireland.

He has managed a number of teams in the UK and

Ireland and is now Manager of the Northern Ireland

National Team.

Billy McKinlay Former Assistant Manager of

Fulham FC, EPL

Glasgow-born McKinlay is a highly respected and experienced top level coach. Before his coaching career he was a highly rated player who won a place in the 1988 Scottish Cup Final side at the age of 19, despite previously having made just 12 League appearances. McKinlay went on to play for a number

of clubs including Blackburn Rovers McKinlay won a total of 29 Scotland International caps.

McKinlay was in charge of Fulham FC for a spell before now England Manager, Roy Hodgson took over. He was instrumental in the development of the youth players at the club and played a big part in the development of American, Clint Dempsey.

A managerial high was beating Liverpool at Anfield whilst in charge at Fulham.

Shelley Kerr

Manager, Stirling University FC As a player, Shelley Kerr captained Scotland Women’s

National Team. She played 59 times for her country and also

played in the Women’s Champions League. She is the former

manager of Arsenal Ladies FC, and has recently been

appointed the manager of Stirling Uni FC making her the first

female manager of a Scottish senior men’s team.

Gordon Forrest

Head of Academy, Vancouver Whitecaps

Ian Cathro

Assistant Coach, Valencia, La Liga, Spain

Gordon Forrest is a former player and coach in Scotland. He

moved to New Zealand as head of youth development before

being appointed as head coach of the Whitecaps U18.s He has a

strong reputation for youth and player development.

Ian is a highly respected coach who played a big part in

the development of youth across Scotland. He is now the

assistant coach with Valencia who compete in La Liga

against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
