Our speaker for the February General meeting is Tsedal Ashby,

General Meetings will be canceled if the Fairfax County Public Schools are closed or

opening two hours late. However, meetings will take place as scheduled if the schools are

outing on Feb 13th to see the National Museum of Women in the Arts exhibition,

Picturing Mary: Woman, Mother, Idea. The exhibition explores the concept of

womanhood represented by the Virgin Mary, as well as the social and sacred

functions her image has served through time. It brings together more than 60

Renaissance and Baroque-era masterworks from the Vatican museums, Uffizi

Gallery, and other museums, churches, and private collections in Europe and the

United States. Picturing Mary: Woman, Mother, Idea features works made by both

female and male artists: Sofonisba Anguissola, Artemisia Gentileschi, and

Elisabetta Sirani alongside Fra Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Giovanni

Battista Tiepolo, and others.

is coming back. Flower arranging and table “scaping” will also be on the

new crochet or knitter. Please contact Ann Herlich, Needlecraft Chair,

for more information if you want help with a project.

Nancy Huber continues to help canasta players refresh their memory of the game and teach members

who want to learn.
