You've seen them -- everything they own crammed into their luggage. Staggering through terminals and hotel lobbies with overstuffed suitcases, trunks, duffels, and backpacks. Backs ache. Feet burn. Eyelids droop. At times, we are people like that -- if not with our physical luggage, then at least with our spiritual load. We all lug loads we were never intended to carry. Fear. Worry. Discontent. We're worn out from carrying that excess baggage. Wouldn't it be nice to lose some of those bags? That's the invitation of Max Lucado. With the Twenty-third Psalm as our guide, we’ll study how to release some of the burdens we were never intended to bear. This Bible study is for women of all ages, and is structured to meet once a week for 9 sessions (off 10/29 & 11/12). FREE childcare is available during the class from 9:30 -11am with bonus free hour from 11:00 until noon. Contact: Rev. Emily Campbell. Sign-up on the Church Website or on our church’s Life Long Learning Bulletin Board. Please register by September 3. Presbyterian Women Book Discussion… The Wives of Henry Oades By Johanna Moran Monday, September 29 @ 7:00 PM When Henry Oades accepts an accountancy post in New Zealand, his wife, Margaret, and their children follow him to exotic Wellington. But while Henry is an adventurer, Margaret is not. Their new home is rougher and more rustic than they expected—and a single night of tragedy shatters the family when the native Maori stage an uprising, kidnapping Margaret and her children. For months, Henry scours the surrounding wilderness, until all hope is lost and his wife and children are presumed dead. Grief-stricken, he books passage to California. There he marries Nancy Foreland, a young widow with a new baby, and it seems they’ve both found happiness in the midst of their mourning—until Henry’s first wife and children show up, alive and having finally escaped captivity. Narrated primarily by the two wives, and based on a real-life legal case, The Wives of Henry Oades is the riveting story of what happens when Henry, Margaret, and Nancy face persecution for bigamy. Join as we begin our series of books dealing with moral dilemmas and ask ourselves, What Would You Do?

Presbyterian Women Book Discussion… Bridge To Haven by Francine Rivers Monday, November 17 @ 7:00 PM

To those who matter in 1950’s Hollywood, Lena Scott is the hottest rising star to hit the silver screen since Marilyn Monroe. Few know her real name is Abra. Even fewer

know the price she's paid to finally feel like she's somebody. To Pastor Ezekiel Freeman, Abra will always be the little girl who stole his heart the night he found her, a wailing newborn abandoned under a bridge on the outskirts of Haven, a sleepy little town in Northern California. Zeke and his son, Joshua—Abra’s closest friend—watch her grow into an exotic beauty. But Zeke knows the circumstances surrounding her birth-etched scars deep in her heart, scars that leave her vulnerable to a fast-talking bad boy who proclaims his love and lures her to Tinseltown. Hollywood feels like a million miles from Haven, and naive Abra quickly learns what’s expected of an ambitious girl with stars in her eyes. But fame comes at a devastating price. She has burned every bridge to get exactly what she thought she wanted. Now, all she wants is a way back home. Look for other Book Discussions in 2015. Read Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver, Tramp for the Lord by Carrie Ten Boom and Little Bee by Chris Cleaves.
