Activity1 :One day workshop on “Bouquet making”

Objective

To give training in bouquet making so that their self-confidence is developed and is useful for their

earnings

Procedure

Women Empowerment cell organised a one day workshop “Bouquet making “ on 30thjune 2016 in

the seminar hall. 1st , 2nd , and 3rd year Botany students are participated.

The workshop was inaugurated by Principal Dr. L. SasiBala. She addressed the students and

delivered an inspiring speech about student empowerment.

We invited trainer Rama Rao for demonstration of different types of bouquet making. We

purchased different natural flowers like zerbina, carnatim, golden rod, hybrid roses, asparagus

leaves, palm leaves etc. Students prepared more than 25 bouquets and our faculty members

purchased them to encourage students.

Activity 2 : Art Exhibition

Objective

To encourage talented student in fine arts and to inspire other girls also

Procedure

Women Empowerment cell organised an art exhibition of the works of P. Jyotirmai, 3rdB.Sc at

botany lab 1.

The art exhibition was inaugurated by principalDr.SasiBala at 10:30 am on 4th August 2016.

Many acrylic paint work sceneries, pencil drawings and handicrafts like pen stand, photo frame,

flowerpot, made with ice cream sticks are exhibited. All the teaching staff, non-teaching staff and

students of all sections visited and made it a grand success.

Activity 3 :Speech on Diabetic care by Dr. N. Chudamani

Objective

To develop awareness among students about health and inculcate a healthy life style and good

habits.

Procedure

Women empowerment cell organised a program “Woman 2 Woman”. Dr.N.Chudamani,

gynaecologist of Maruthi Hospitals, Guntur arrived. Her speech was arranged at 3:00 pm. Principal

Dr.L.Sasibala presided over the program.

Dr.N.Chudamani gave an excellent PPT presentation on diabetes, types of diabetes. She suggested

healthy food for diabetic patients all the non-teaching, teaching staff and students of our college

participated and made it a grand success.

Activity 4: One Day Workshop On “Home Needs Making”

Objective

To train students in the preparation of some items which are commonly used in the house at a low

price.

Procedure

Woman Empowerment Cell conducted a one day workshop titled “Home Needs Making”.

Workshop was conducted at seminar hall 50 students were registered their names for the

workshop.

Kiranmai, the trainer, trained the students in making surf, liquid blue, scented phenyl, lyzol, zandu

balm, herbal shampoo and candles by giving notes and demonstrations.

Students prepared the items and packed them neatly. Teaching and non-teaching staff purchased

them for a reasonable price.

Students learned the process of making each item thoroughly. They are confident enough to start

a small scale industry.

Certificates were given to the students. Incharge principal B.Anuradha Devi, lecturer in hindi,

congratulate students.

Activity 5 – Beautician Course

Objective

To train students in different beauty techniques so that they become enterprenuers.

Procedure

Women Empowerment Cell organised a certificate beautician course of 30 days duration from 07-

09-2016 to 07-10-2016. By the trainer G. Sridevi who is working under PMVY.

23 students joined the course. Each student paid Rs. 1200/- Beautician supplied the required

material to the students. Students were very enthuciastic and learned well.

The valedictory function was arranged on 23-02-2017. The function was presided over by the

principal Dr. L. SasiBala and issued certificates to all the participant students.

Activity 6 – Anti Dowry Day

Objective

To develop awareness among the students on legal issues related to dowry

Procedure

Women Empowerment Cell conducted anti dowry day with the collaboration of District Legal

Services. The meeting was started at 3:30 pm in the seminar hall. Principal Dr.l. SasiBala presided

over the programme.

Second additional district judge Smt.Premavathi, senior civil judge Anandi, 4th additional district

judge N. SatyaSriSenior civil judge Bharathi Devi and distictleagal senior co-ordinator Lakshmi

Narasimha Reddy participated in the programme. All the

speakers emphasised that the dowry system is one of the evil tormenting society. Offering or

accepting dowry is a crime and comes under punishable offence. In the case of dowry, if the bride

makes any complaint the bridegroom and his other relatives have to prove their innocence. But if

the bride makes allegations without any proof, they will have to face a great loss.

Activity 7 : International Women’s Day Celebrations

Theme : Be Bold For change

Objective :

To create boldness among students and inculcate self-respect, to aware them about equal rights

and women empowerment.

Procedure :

On March 8th 2017, Department of sociology and Women Empowerment Cell combindly organised

a programme in the college.

In the morning session, we invited V. Rukminigaru, famous lawyer in Guntur, for a guest lecture.

She covered the areas of women rights, women empowerment, violence against women, domestic

violence and gender discriminations.

After the guest lecture, cultural activities have been organised. Students participated in singing,

dancing and acting. Sports competitions has been conducted to women staff in the evening.

Principal distributed to the winners.
