Amos 6:1-8

Then and Now• Many at ease in the days of Amos
– Had a false sense of security
– Given to their luxuries & material possessions
– Not see impending danger of God’s judgment
• Many modern saints also at ease in Zion– Lukewarm, lethargic & lulled to sleep by Satan
– Given to pursuit of materialism & pleasure
– Fail to consider the coming judgment of God
Excuses SometimesHeard For FailureTo Do The Work
“There is nothing to do”
• If Christians are at ease today, it is not because there is nothing to do.
• In fact, there is much work to be accomplished.
• Jeremiah 48:10

“There is excess of workers”
• If Christians are at ease today, it is not because there is an excess of workers.
• In fact, there is a shortage of workers.

• 2 Timothy 4:9-12
• 3 John 5-8
“There is plenty of time”
• If Christians are at ease today, it is not because there is plenty of time.
• In fact, time and opportunity are limited.

Conclusion
• Like those of Amos’ day, the church at Laodicea was also at ease in Zion– Despite their complacency, they were facing
desperate spiritual problems
– God demands that all such individuals be zealous and repent (Revelation 3:14-19)
• We must be diligent & zealous in the Lord’s work (Titus 2:11-14).
