Question: Explain one way that human activity can change the water cycle. (2 marks)

1 Tarmacking/concreting the ground = water can’t infiltrate

2 Cutting down trees (deforestation) = loss of store, less interception, increased surface runoff

3 Planting trees (reforestation or afforestation) = creates a store, more interception, slows surface runoff

4 Building a reservoir or dam = increased evaporation

5 Farming = planting crops creates a store, harvesting removes a store

6 Industry = takes water out of a system

7 Building a well or borehole = takes a water store from aquifer

So, a good answer would be:
