Peter Livy has been elected for his 6th term as our Chair- person which is a huge vote of confidence from our mem- ers. While popular members Tom Lingford and Lorraine

Henneken were honoured with Life Memberships.

Tommy and Lorraine celebrate after

being presented with their K.B.C.

Life Memberships.

Both made emotional speeches and

thanked all for the support.

Tommy said “I have two families —

the first is my son Adrian and my

daughter Susie, the second family

are those at the Keilor Bowls Club”.

Tommy has put his name up for

Tues., and Sat. Pennant as

well as mid week social.

Our A.G.M. took

place yesterday,

and while the top

positions didn’t

change a few new

faces have ap-

peared, which is

good.

The selectors for

Saturday won’t be

known for some

time. There is still

time to nominate.

Greenfees will rise

to $10. Member-

ship stays as is.

Sgt. Ernie Bilko was the ultimate con man. He ran the motor pool at a

small army camp. Col. Hall, tried his hardest to keep Bilko in check, as

he ran every money making scheme that he thought he could pull off.

Midnight cruises on landing craft, tank rides, poker games and an in-

teresting deal with local service stations for spare parts for Jeeps and

tyres. The question is, who is the “shady guy” sitting next to Bilko?

George Dick Former Keilor Bowls member

George Dick passed away on

the 5th of May.

George loved his native Scot-

land, and a medley of Scottish

tunes were played at his ser-

vice, featuring Andy Stewart.

At the conclusion of the service

bagpipes were played for the

final good-byes for George.

Peter Keogh says “91% of illegal

immigrants to Australia come so

they can visit their own Doctor!”

Popular club philosopher Allen Black says condoms don’t guarantee safe sex.

A friend of his was wear-ing one when he was shot by the woman’s husband.

Our very own Dianne Marshall is now the world record holder for being fifteen hours early for an overseas flight from Melbourne to London.

Dianne was able to help the attendants close up their departure booths before they went home after their shift.

Not only did she do that, she helped them open up again when they returned back to work.

Dianne is just like that, always willing to lend a hand. It had nothing to do with wanting to get away from Allen early or getting 10 a.m. mixed up with 10 p.m. it all had to do with the fondness for flying that she has always enjoyed. Lol

Cecile, Ray and Mirella wave farewell

to Australian waters as their round the

world sea adventure leaves from Perth

and bound for Colombo.

Ray and Cecile have been playing in-

door bowls on board the ship — all part

of the provided entertainment.

It was a proud moment for Daryl Payne when his

daughter Leanne Mansfield strode out onto the

centre of the M.C.G. and tossed the coin for the

start of the Richmond Melbourne match on ANZAC

Day. The Tigers are on the move at the half way

mark of the season, which makes supporters purr.

Ben started his bowls in the local Doutta Gala Club. He currently plays bowls for Moonee Valley, with lots of other up and coming kids. * Keep your eyes on the AFL Draft in a few years time as Ben is excelling rapidly in footy. He loves Collingwood and one day his dream would be part of the Black & White.

New fortnightly newsletter from Bowls Victoria

The May edition of THE SHOT magazine will be the last printed publication of this type produced by Bowls

Victoria. Like many publications, the cost of production and printing is not sustainable. Earlier this year,

Bowls Victoria initiated an independent review of our communication processes. In order for Bowls Victo-ria to proceed down the path of effectively communicating with the membership, stakeholders and people we aim to attract to the sport, we acknowledge that other methods of getting our information out to all of these different sectors must be a focus of a communications strategy going forward. We will soon launch

a new fortnightly e-newsletter that will make it easier for members to keep up-to-date with everything they need to know about results, upcoming events and news from across regional and metro areas and all levels of the sport from grassroots to elite. Go to www.bowlsvic.org.au to sign up.

Peter Keogh says the best form of birth con-trol after 50 is “nudity”.

An enjoyable morning was held at the club on Thursday 28th May, in aid of breast cancer. All proceeds will go towards the Biggest Morning Tea Cancer Appeal.

The 33 ladies and 3 gentlemen contributed $479.85 that came from donations at the door, raffles and the auction of a beau-tiful cake decorated by Barry and Lorraine Dean’s daughter.

One million people

across Australia took

part in the big event

and many had guest

speakers who had

managed to fight off

the dreaded disease

and won.

In our club so many

members are going

through the fight at

present.

THANK YOU Thank you to all who

donated raffle prizes

which helped make

the day such a suc-

cess.

LEFT: A very delighted pair, Frank Franchi and Diana Radojovic are this years winners of the Club’s Mixed Pairs.

Their formidable opposi-tion were Mick Isergin and Jenny Montague, who got off to an excellent start but were pulled back and the match continued to be neck and neck with the scores level at the start of the final end.

For the excited on-lookers it became nail biting.

Then two close bowls by Diana and Frank, and a near miss by Michael saw Frank and Diana clinch the match to take home the silverware.

Congratulation to the four players who turned on a fantastic finale.

With the Club Four’s almost in his grasp, skipper Joe Bayona had to sit back and watch as oppos-ing skipper Neil Stephenson played his last bowl that crunched the jack back into the sand. Thus celebrating a great victory with a narrow 2 shot win. The victory also meant a great deal to Bernie Copal as he sadly says good-bye to Keilor with a hard earned trophy for his pool room. (Just look at that smile).

David Salmon and Colin Richmond didn’t hold back on their hard earned victory either.
