Performance Notes“Rise Up With Him” is a song of hope in the powerful resurrection of Jesus. A cantor sings the openingverse and may be joined by unison choir and assembly on the first refrain. The second verse and refrain areenhanced and reinforced by an accompanying SATB choir. In the final verse and refrain, the cantor is giventhe freedom to vocally improvise to add to the dynamics and joy of the piece. The primary melody of therefrain should remain prominent throughout the performance of this piece to encourage assemblyparticipation. With its uplifting and gospel feel, “Rise Up With Him” is ideal as a closing song for the EasterSeason or during Ordinary Time when the liturgy calls for themes of resurrection. It is also effective for useat funeral liturgies or memorial services. Accompaniment should be anchored with a strong gospel piano-style, and may be further complimented with organ or a rhythm ensemble.
