CASING CAPPING WIRING SYSTEM

Casing and Capping were famous wiring systems in the past. Its shape is like a rectangular strip. Grooves are made on the surface of casing. It is available in two way and three way design. V.I.R(Vulcanised India Rubber) & PVC(Poly Vinyl Chloride) pipes are used. The Capping is fitted on the casing and screwed.

CASING CAPPING WIRING SYSTEM

Available of size 1.5” or 30mm in width 5/8” or 16mm thickness. The width of the groove of casing 6mm. Casing and Capping is available in length of 1m or 10ft. It is also available in sizes of 4,51,64,76,89,102mm. It can be install in both vertical and horizontal position. Different joints are used such as 1 Joint, L-joint, Bridge Joint. Life period is about 20 years approximately. Casing is a PVC rectangular pipes installing on the wall. All cables are inserted in the casing and then fitted in Capping.

Advantages of Casing Capping

This wiring system is cheap and durable. There is no risk of electric shock because all cables are covered. The installation of the wiring system is easy. The customizations are possible in the Casing Capping. It is cheaper as compared to steel conduit and sheeted wiring system. There is no risk of Mechanical shock.

Dis Advantages of Casing Capping

The humidity is directly affected on the Casing and Capping. Fault finding process is difficult. The initial cost of the system is high, therefore it is expensive It can be used upto 220V. There is a high risk of fire in casing & capping wiring system. Not suitable in the acidic, alkalies and humidity conditions Costly repairing and need more material.

Precautions

Always use porcelain tube or conduit when cables are passing through the walls.

Do not insert the phase wire and neutral wire in the same groove. Always use the porcelain cleat or washel. Fit the Capping on the Casing tightly and screwed.

Conduit Wiring

In this system of wiring steel tubes known as conduits. It can be installed on the surface of walls by means of saddles or pipe

hooks or buried under plaster and PVC cables are drawn into afterwards by means of a GI(Galvanised Wire) wire of size of about 18 SWG.

In damp situations the conduits can be spaced from the walls by meansof small wooden blocks fixed below the pipes at regular intervals.

The conduits should be electrically and mechanically continuous and connected to earth at some suitable point.

The conduit used for this purpose is of two types namely light gauge or split type conduit and heavy gauge or screwed type conduit.

Light gauge or spilt conduit with a seam along its length is used ,for cheap work.

Screwed conduit is used for all medium voltage (250v to 600v) circuits and in places where good mechanical protection and absolute protection from moisture is desired.

In general the finish of the conduit is black stove enameled, there being a smooth coat of enamel both on the inside and outside surface of the tube.

Galvanized conduit is also employed, especially in damp situations when the conduit is on the surface but under ordinary conditions buried in walls it offers little, if any, advantage over good enameled conduit.

The smallest size is 12mm. Next 16mm, 19mm & 31mm. The largest standard size is 63mm but this is not much in use.

Types of Conduit

There are two types of Wiring.1. Metallic Conduit2. Non-metallic conduit

Metallic Conduits :Metallic conduits are made of steel which are very strong but costly as well.There are two types of metallic conduits. Class A Conduit: Low gauge conduit (Thin layer steel sheet conduit) Class B Conduit: High gauge conduit (Thick sheet of steel conduit)

Advantages of Conduit

It is the safest wiring system (Concealed conduit wring) No risk of mechanical wear & tear and fire in case of metallic pipes. There is no risk of damage the cables insulation. It provides protection against mechanical damage. It provides complete protection against fire due to short circuit etc. The whole system is water proof. Replacement and alternation of defective wiring is easy. Its life is long if the work is properly executed. It is shock proof also if earthing and bonding is properly done.

Dis Advantages of Conduit

It is expensive wiring system (Due to PVC and Metallic pipes, Additional earthing for metallic pipes Tee(s) and elbows etc.

Very hard to find the defects in the wiring. installation is not easy and simple. Risk of Electric shock (In case of metallic pipes without proper earthing

system) Very complicated to manage additional connection in the future. Its erection is not so easy and requires time. Experienced and highly skilled labor is required for carrying out the job.

Working Of Fan with Dimmer

Components: Switch Dimmer FanAbstract:Our objective is to change the speed of the fan with the help of Dimmer.To connect a Dimmer with fan we have to give positive terminal of WAPDA to the switch. And connect switch with dimmer. Now connect the positive terminal of dimmer to the fan And negative terminal of Wapda to the Fan (220V AC). Now the speed of the fan is in our control.
