What is Bluetooth wirelesstechnology?Bluetooth™ wireless technology isa short-range wireless technologythat enables wireless datacommunication between digitaldevices, such as a computer ordigital camera. Bluetooth wirelesstechnology operates within a rangeof about 10 meters (about 30 feet).Connecting two devices asnecessary is common, but somedevices can be connected tomultiple devices at the same time.You do not need to use a cable forconnection, nor is it necessary forthe devices to face one another, suchis the case with infrared technology.For example, you can use such adevice in a bag or pocket.Bluetooth standard is aninternational standard supported bythousands of companies all over theworld, and employed by variouscompanies worldwide.

Tips• If the AC power adaptor is

Charging the unitThe unit contains a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, which should becharged before using for the first time.

range of 0 °C – 40 °C (32 °F –104 °F).

PairingWhat is pairing?

Bluetooth devices need to be“paired” with each otherbeforehand.Once Bluetooth devices are paired,there is no need for pairing again,except in the following cases:• Pairing information is deleted

after repair, etc.• This unit is paired with 9 or more

devices.This unit can be paired with up to8 devices; if a new device ispaired after 8 devices have beenpaired, the device whose latestconnection time is the oldestamong the 8 paired devices isreplaced by the new one.

• When recognition of the unit bythe device to be connected isdeleted.

• This unit is initialized (page 26).All pairing information is deleted.

Procedures of pairing

1 Place the Bluetoothdevice within 1 m (3 ft)of this unit.

2 Press and hold thePOWER button for7 seconds or more tostandby for pairingwhile the unit is turnedoff.

Notes• After about 3 seconds, power is

turned on and the indicator (blue)and indicator (red) flash togethertwice. Keep the POWER buttonpressed without releasing. Theindicator (blue) starts flashing.When both indicators start flashingtogether again, release the button.This unit enters into pairing mode.

• If pairing is not established withinabout 5 minutes, pairing mode willbe cancelled and this unit will turnoff. In this case, start over fromstep 1.

3 Perform pairingprocedure on theBluetooth device todetect this unit.The list of detected devicesappears on the display of theBluetooth device. This unit isdisplayed as “DR-BT22.”If “DR-BT22” is not displayed,repeat from step 1.

instructions supplied with theBluetooth device.

• When pairing with a Bluetoothdevice that cannot display a list ofdetected devices or that has nodisplay, you may pair the device bysetting both this unit and theBluetooth device to pairing mode.At this time, if passcode is setbesides “0000” on the Bluetoothdevice, pairing cannot be done withthis unit.

4 Select “DR-BT22” onthe display of theBluetooth device.

5 If Passcode* input isrequired on the displayof a Bluetooth device,input “0000.”Pairing is complete when theindicator (blue) flashes slowly.The message standing for“Pairing complete” appears onthe display of some Bluetoothdevices.

* Passcode may be called “Passkey,”“PIN code,” “PIN number,” or“Password.”

6 Start the Bluetoothconnection from theBluetooth device.This unit memorizes the deviceas the last connected device.Some Bluetooth devices mayconnect with the unitautomatically when pairing iscomplete.

Tips• To pair with other Bluetooth devices,

repeat steps 1 to 5 for each device.• To delete all pairing information, see

“Initializing the unit” (page 26).

3 Start playback on theBluetooth device.

TipBluetooth connection of A2DP(Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)can also be operated with the jog switchfrom this unit to the Bluetooth deviceexcept when making a call on this unit.

Notes• When you play music by connecting the

unit to a Bluetooth device using HSP(Headset Profile), sound quality will notbe high. For better sound, change theBluetooth connection to A2DP byoperating the Bluetooth device.

• If this unit is turned off while an A2DPBluetooth connection is established,operate the unit again from step 1 tomake the A2DP Bluetooth connectionagain.

Controlling the audiodevice – AVRCP

If the Bluetooth audio deviceconnected with this unit supportsAVRCP (Audio Video RemoteControl Profile), you can control byusing the unit buttons.Refer to the operating instructionssupplied with the Bluetooth deviceon how to operate it.

A To make a connectionby operating Bluetoothmobile phone

1 Make the Bluetoothconnection (HFP orHSP*) from theBluetooth mobile phoneto this unit.Refer to the manual suppliedwith your Bluetooth mobilephone for operation details.The list of recognized devicesappears on the display of theBluetooth mobile phone. Thisunit is displayed as“DR-BT22.”When you use the Bluetoothmobile phone features both HFP(Hands-free Profile) and HSP(Headset Profile), set to HFP.

NoteWhen connecting to a Bluetoothmobile phone which is different fromthe last connected one, make theconnection following the aboveprocedure.

* For details on profiles, seepage 4.

Check the following beforeoperating the unit.– The Bluetooth function is active

on the mobile phone.– Pairing of this unit and the

Bluetooth mobile phone iscomplete.

1 Use the buttons on yourmobile phone whenmaking a call.If no dial tone is heard on thisunit, press and hold the multifunction button for about 2seconds.

TipYou can call in the following way,depending on the Bluetooth mobilephone. Refer to the manual supplied withyour mobile phone on operating details.– When not communicating, you can call

using the voice-dial function bypressing the multi function button.

– You can call the last dialed number bypressing the multi function button forabout 2 seconds.

To receive a callWhen an incoming call arrives, a ringtone will be heard from the unit.

1 Press the multi functionbutton on the unit.The ring tone differs in thefollowing ways, depending onyour mobile phone.

Controlling theBluetooth mobilephone – HFP, HSP

The operation of the buttons on thisunit varies depending on yourmobile phone.HFP (Hands-free Profile) or HSP(Headset Profile) is used forBluetooth mobile phone. Refer tothe operating instructions suppliedwith your Bluetooth mobile phoneon supported Bluetooth profiles orhow to operate.

Calling while playing back musicThe Bluetooth connection using HFP or HSP as well as A2DP is necessaryto make a call while playing back music.For example, to make a call using a Bluetooth mobile phone while listeningto music on a Bluetooth compatible music player, this unit needs to beconnected to the mobile phone using HFP or HSP.

Make a Bluetooth connection between this unit and thedevice in use following the procedures outlined below.

1 Make a Bluetooth connection between this unit andthe mobile phone in use with HFP or HSP followingthe procedures outlined in “Calling” (see page 17).

2 Operate the Bluetooth device (music player or mobilephone) used for playing the music to make aBluetooth connection to this unit using A2DP.

To receive a call whileplaying back musicWhen an incoming call arrives, themusic pauses and the ring tone isheard from this unit.

1 Press the multi functionbutton and talk.After finishing the call, press themulti function button. This unitis switched back to musicplayback.

When no ring tone is heardeven if an incoming callarrives

1 Stop music playback.

2 When ringing, press themulti function buttonand talk.

To make a call whileplaying back music

1 Press the multi functionbutton while playingback music (page 19), oroperate your Bluetoothmobile phone to make atelephone call.If no dial tone is heard on thisunit, press and hold the multifunction button for about 2seconds.

Disposing of the unitThis unit has a Lithium-lon rechargeable battery built in the left unit.For environmental conservation, be sure to remove the built-in rechargeablebattery from the unit before disposing, and dispose of the batteryappropriately.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1 Remove the ear pad onthe left unit, and thendetach the left unit.The unit is fixed with claws (3places). As illustrated, insert anobject such as flatheadscrewdriver into the gap and liftup the unit to detach it.

2 Remove the screwwhich fixes the externalcover.

3 Open the external coverand remove the insidecircuit board.1 The external cover can be

detached by hand.2 The circuit board is fixed

with claws (2 places). Push

the claws in the arrowdirection as illustrated toremove the circuit board.

3 Lift the circuit board anddetach.

¿Qué es elemparejamiento?

Los dispositivos Bluetooth deben“emparejarse” previamente entre sí.Una vez que los dispositivosBluetooth se han emparejado, no esnecesario volver a hacerlo exceptoen los casos siguientes:• La información de

emparejamiento se elimina trasuna reparación, etc.

• La unidad está emparejada con 9dispositivos o más.Esta unidad se puede emparejarhasta con 8 dispositivos; si seempareja un noveno dispositivo,éste reemplazará al más antiguode los 8 restantes.
