WINSOC
WINSOC is a Specific Targeted Research Project co-funded by theINFSO DG of the European Commission within the RTD activities ofthe Thematic Priority Information Society Technologies.
Goal of the project is to develop a general purpose innovative
sensor network having distributed processing capabilities the high accuracy and reliability of the whole network is achieved byintroducing a suitable coupling among adjacent, low cost, sensors thatgives rise to a distributed detection or estimation more accurate thanthat of each single sensor, without the need for sending all the data to afusion center.
The project will address applications to small landslides detection, gas leakage detection and large scale temperature field monitoring.

WINSOC-AMRITA
Exploit wireless sensor network technology to develop a spatial-temporal sensor system that can be used for improving the scientificunderstanding of landslide phenomena and real-time monitoring andassessment of sites with high landslide risk.
The network of in-situ wireless sensors will collect andcollaboratively process measurements from the field beforeforwarding them to an analysis station co-located at the VRC(Village Resource Center) stations.
The analysis station will execute more computationally-intensivealgorithms and will act as the end-user interface to the system.
The end-user will be able to re-task the system through the analysissection by changing the frequency and the spatial granularity atwhich measurements are taken.
