Equipments Used
For The Project
ACCESS POINT
108Mbps Wireless Access PointWAP-0003V2
Access Point For Wireless Connectivity
(Level One Access Point)
Key features
Complies with IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g
Data rate up to 54Mbps for 802.11g and 11 Mbps for 802.11b
Up to 108Mbps with enhanced SuperG
Network Security with 64/128-bit WEP, 802.1x in Windows XP
Uses 2.4 12~ 2.484 GHz (subject to local regulations) Frequency Band
Quick and easy setup with web-based management/configuration utility
Selects automatically the least crowded channel by dynamic channel selection function
Supports Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
Modes Of Level One Access Point
1. AP – The normal Access Point operating mode which forms a wireless ESS network with its wireless clients.
2. AP Client – Acts as an Ethernet-to-Wireless Bridge, which allows a LAN or a single computer station to join a wireless ESS network through it. You must make sure that the SSID and Channel is set to the same as that used by the AP you wish to connect.
Modes Of Level One Access Point
3. Wireless Bridge – A pair of APs operating under Bridge mode to act as the bridge that connects two Ethernet networks or Ethernet enabled clients together. You must make sure that the SSID and Channel is set to the same as that used by the AP you wish to connect.
Modes Of Level One Access Point
4. Multiple Bridge – A group of APs which consists of two or more APs operating under Multiple
Bridge mode, that can connect two or more Ethernet networks or Ethernet enabled clients
together. The way that multiple bridge setup is based on the topology of Ad -Hoc mode.
5. Repeater Mode : Work as Repeater. You must make sure that the IP, SSID and Channel is set to the same as that used by the AP you wish to connect.
Omni Directional Antenna

In This Project I need to Connect more than one location on long
distance
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
So, Installed the Access Point In AP Mode in
Server Room with omni direction Antenna to
boost the signals on the roof to of the Server room

Antenna Access Point in AP-Mode in Server Room
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
Installed the Another Access Point with Omni Direction Antenna in Repeat Mode with same IP,SSID and
channel On the roof of B-Tech Block to Repeat the
Signals of Access Point
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
AP (Repeat Mode) with
Antenna
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
Mechanical Department, Admin Department and
Chairman can access the server through Wireless Connectivity with good
quality of signals
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
Installed the another Access Point in Repeat Mode with
Omni Directional Antenna In Hostel for the Connectivity in
Hostel and Compound
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
HostelDistance From Server Room Approx. 900 Meters
AP (Repeat Mode) with
Antenna
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
In Compound users are able to get the connectivity from both the Access Points In
Repeat Mode
Graphic Era Institute Of Technology, Dehradun (India)
HostelDistance From Server Room Approx. 900 Meters
Security Configured Disable the SSID Broadcast
Enable WEP Key
Enable the Mac Filter
Problem Faced During Project Checked with different modes of AP to connect locations
Checked the different kind of Antenna’s like unidirectional, Antenna Splitters and Repeaters then finally configured the Access Point as Repeater
There was another building in between two locations so we have faced lots of problem to decide the proper height and position of Antenna
Interference due to the tower of mobile company near the campus so we have to go through different channels to bypass the interference of mobile tower
