1 Important Information

Please read this manual carefullybefore using this software. If thesoftware is to be used by youngchildren, the manual should be readand explained to them by an adult.

Before use, please also read theOperations Manual for yourNintendo 3DS system. It containsimportant information that will helpyou enjoy this software.

♦ This software does not supportthe display of 3D visuals.

♦ Unless stated otherwise, anyreferences to "Nintendo 3DS" inthis manual apply toNintendo 3DS™ andNintendo 3DS™ XL systems.

To access this application, touch the icon on the HOME Menu, then

touch OPEN and read the contentsof each section carefully. When youhave finished, press toreturn to the HOME Menu.

The in-game language depends onthe one that is set on the system.This title supports five differentlanguages: English, German, French,Spanish and Italian.If your Nintendo 3DS systemlanguage is set to one of these, thesame language will be displayed inthe software. If your Nintendo 3DSsystem is set to another language,the in-game default language will beEnglish.For instructions about how to changethe system language, please refer tothe System Settings electronicmanual.

♦ In order to use Miiverse, it isnecessary to carry out the initialsettings for Miiverse.

This software supports NintendoNetwork™.With this software, you can connectto the internet and share artwork onMiiverse™ (p. 11).

4 Parental Controls

You can use the following ParentalControls to restrict certain featuresof this software.

♦ For more information aboutParental Controls, refer to theOperations Manual.

● Sharing Images/Audio/Video/LongText Data

● Restricts sharing artwork withother players.

● Miiverse● Restricts posting on Miiverse

and/or viewing other players'Miiverse posts. It is possible torestrict posting only, or to restrictboth posting and viewing.

5 Getting Started

Lessons

Learn how to draw Pokémon™ anduse different media.

Main Menu

You can selectfrom thefollowingoptions on themain menu.

When you start the game for thefirst time, use the Touch Screen to:enter a name, gender and signature,select which hand you draw with,and configure SpotPass™ (p. 13).

♦ All settings can be changed later(except for gender).

♦ The main menu will be displayedthe next time the game is started.

Extras

Change the name and signature onyour ID card and check yourprogress.

Share

You can post artwork directly toMiiverse (p. 11) or share it via LocalPlay (p. 12).

Album

View saved and received artwork(p. 10).

Quick Sketch

Learn how to draw Pokémon quicklyand easily.

Free Paint

Use media freely to create any kindof artwork you like. You can useexamples or photos saved to the SDCard.

♦ There are images that cannot beimported.

♦ You can receive new examples asthey are made available. To getthem, go to Free Paint and touchCHECK FOR DOWNLOADABLEIMAGES.

Settings

Change settings, including soundoptions, game controls andSpotPass.

6 Saving and Deleting Data

Exporting a JPEG Image

You can save artwork as JPEGimages, which can be viewed inNintendo 3DS Camera, or oncomputers and many othercompatible devices.

♦ Artwork saved as JPEG imagescannot be edited.

Saving Your Artwork

You can save your artwork at anytime if you want to take a break.Once saved, you can go back to thelesson and edit it again. When youhave saved and finished it you canview it in the Album.

After a lesson has finished

Touch SAVE AND FINISH.

During a Lesson/Free Paint/Quick Sketch

Press to open the menu andselect SAVE.

Saving Data

Your progress is saved automaticallywhenever you finish a lesson. isdisplayed while saving.

Deleting Data

All artwork data is saved to theSD Card.

On the main menu, touch andselect CLEAR USER DATA.

♦ Please check carefully beforedeleting any data. Once data hasbeen deleted, it cannot berecovered.

♦ Artwork data present on theSD Card will not be deleted.

Deleting Lesson Progress

In Lessons/Free Paint/QuickSketch menus

Touch LOAD SAVE, select anartwork, and then touch .

In the Album

Select the artwork, then touch and select EXPORT.

● Do not turn the power off,reset the system or removeGame Cards/SD Cards whilesaving. Make sure not to getdirt in the terminals. Theseactions could result inpermanent data loss.

● Do not use externalaccessories or software tomodify your save data, as thiscan lead to an inability toprogress or loss of save data.Any modification is permanent,so be careful.

Deleting Artwork Save Data

In Lessons/Free Paint/QuickSketch menus

Touch LOAD SAVE and select anartwork, then touch .

In the Album

Select the artwork, then touch and select DELETE.

Use the stylus to draw and selectoptions. You can also use thebuttons to perform some actions.

Choose Any Colour

In Free Paint, you can use thepalette eyedropper ( ) and customcolour selector ( ) in the followingways to select colours moreprecisely.

Share

You can share artwork via Miiverseor Local Play.

View artworkyou've drawnor received.You can alsoselect artworkto edit ordelete.

Image Options

Select an artwork in the album andtouch to open image options.

Name/Rename

You can choose a new name foryour artwork.

11 Miiverse

From the main menu, select SHAREand then Miiverse to post your ownartwork and view artwork posted byother users.

Post to Community

Post text and artwork.

♦ The card's Pokémon type andname will not be posted toMiiverse.

♦ Any background data taken fromthe SD Card will be removedwhen posting to Miiverse.

Post to a Competition

This can only be selected while acompetition is available to enter.Once you've drawn a Pokémonbased on the topic, simply post it.

♦ To find out more aboutcompetitions, read thenotifications distributed viaSpotPass or check theAnnouncement Community onMiiverse for this software.

Browse Miiverse

Communities for this software will bedisplayed.

Setup

In the main menu, touch SHARE andthen LOCAL PLAY.

Sharing with people nearby(Local Play)

You can exchange album data andJPEG image data with other players.

♦ You can send data to up to fourpeople at the same time.

Sending Artwork

1. Touch SEND, select the artworkand then touch SHARESELECTED.

2. Touch either ALBUM IMAGE orJPEG IMAGE.

3. If there are people you don'twant to send the artwork to, firstremove them from the list bytouching the red cross icon, thenpress SEND.

Receiving Artwork

1. Touch RECEIVE.2. Select the person you want to

receive the artwork from andtouch SELECT.

13 SpotPass

Receiving Data(SpotPass)

When you're not playing thegame, leave the system in SleepMode to automatically search forand connect to the internet viaany local Wi-Fi network to receivenotifications (includingadvertisements and promotions)from Nintendo.

♦ Data received via SpotPass issaved to the SD Card. It'spreferable to keep an SD Cardinserted in the system.

♦ Notifications you receive can befound under Notifications on theHOME Menu.

To use SpotPass, you must first:

- Accept the Nintendo 3DS ServiceUser Agreement and Privacy Policy

- Set up an internet connection- Insert an SD Card into the

Nintendo 3DS system

For information on these, refer tothe Operations Manual.

Activating SpotPass

The first time you play, you canenable SpotPass by selectingENABLE NOTIFICATIONS whenprompted.

♦ You can touch and thenSpotPass SETTINGS to changesettings.

♦ Touch the circle to toggleNotifications on and off.
