My Mother’s Flowersby Teri Spracklin
My mother’s flowersthe surest sign of home their delicate robust bodies springing upthrough gravel or snowin a thicket of perennials and weedsor in the lawn under a walnut tree grown rogue with age and experiencethose she planted unfurling along the walls and beds she cut from lifeless groundand those she didn’t sprinkled across the yard spread by happenstancelike kindnesslike love.
At my deskthose flowers emergelayer by layercolour by colourby stem and stamenby leaf and by lovepaper effigies of thosesnapdragons in the gravelof those crocuses in the lawnof those roses grown wildover a lifetime of summersspent in the sun an emblem of my mother’s love, her flowersthe surest sign of home.

There’s a company called Altenew,For 6 years it grew and grew,Now crafters abound,With great products they’ve found, And oh, I have quite a few!”

Card-making is my hobby, It’s the thing that keeps me sane. My wallet might be skinny, But my evenings ain’t mundane!
Some folks may prefer make-up, Or clothes, or a fancy shoe… My therapy is also retail, But I shop at Altenew.
Their layering stamps are amazing, Their designs are so unique, And it all comes with great quality, That’s why they’re my favourite boutique.
Ink, stencils, stamps and dies, And tonnes of embellishments, too… You name it - I bet I have it! (And let’s face it - so do you!)
Let me tell you about my first stamp set, And their best one, dare I say! It’s classy and oh, so elegant, And it’s called “Beautiful Day”.
You can use it for someone’s birthday, On a card for the ones you love lots, It works perfectly for weddings, And for “sending hugs and happy thoughts”.
Stamp on paper, acetate or vellum, And have fun with your favourite technique; Whatever way you use it, The outcome will be trés chic!
Heat emboss, stamp in layers or use markers, Watercolouring works a treat, too, It also goes well with other stamp sets, If you - like me - hoard Altenew!
The possibilities are endless, If you don’t have it - go on, just pay! I assure you, you won’t regret it, And so I “wish you the most beautiful day”!
