In order to do this, dummy's two trumps would have to be removed. There- fore a shift was jnade to the spade ten. which East ducked. Mr. Stearns now planned to take two finesses in diamonds in order to obtain club discards. But when he led a small diamond towards the dummy, West promptly went up with the queen. Winning with dummy's ace, Mr. Stearns returned toe jack. He rea- soned that if East returned a trump, the jack of clubs might still provide an entry caret; and W any event ruf- fing one club in dummy would still leave him a trick short of his con- tract. Had East now followed his partners fine defense and returned a trump, the hand would have been get. But he erroneously concluded that East's play of the queen of dia- monds had indicated a daubleton. So he now returned a. third diamond, -''much to- his partner's disgust. Mr. Stfarns naturally discarded a club and now, presented wtih an- other entry to dummy, seized the opportunity. to take a spade finesse and win his contract. CaMwright. Championship at Asbury Park. N. J., which they recently annexed. Most players in Mr. Stearns" position stopped ait the safe contract of three spades. But. having once received a free

bid from his partner, he felt that a game bid was a very worthwhile gamble. The hand was distinguished by some fine defensive play by West. Unfortunately for the defenders, East failed to reach the same heights.

The bidding:

North Eaat South West P a n 1<? W*. *S> 3 0 Pass 4 4 P a n Pass P a n West opened the queen of hearts

and then, gazing earnestly at the dummy, decided that the best chance to obtain tricks was in clubs. In order to do this, dummy's two trumps would have to be removed. Therefore a shift was jnade to the spade ten. which East ducked. Mr. Stearns now planned to take two finesses in diamonds in order to obtain club discards. But when he led a small diamond towards the dummy, West promptly went up with the queen. Winning with dummy's ace, Mr. Stearns returned toe jack. He reasoned that if East returned a trump, the jack of clubs might still provide an entry caret; and W any event ruffing one club in dummy would still leave him a trick short of his contract. Had East now followed his partners fine defense and returned a trump, the hand would have been get. But he erroneously concluded that East's play of the queen of diamonds had indicated a daubleton. So he now returned a. third diamond,

-''much to- his partner's disgust.

Mr. Stfarns naturally discarded a club and now, presented wtih another entry to dummy, seized the opportunity. to take a spade finesse and win his contract.

?ONAWANDA EAST AURORA his advertisement is not a dis

guised pe id l ing proposition and Is NOT designed to attract vacuum cleaner salesmen, peddlers, or doorbell punchers, because our business is 80% clientele once a man Is established.

We used this same ad Monday, Sept. 12. and were able to select same good men. We can still use a"few more. The only change In the ad if the folowlng men and their earnings, which has been brought up to date. W. W, B.—A former minister made in cash last week $57.58. W. J. B—A former carpenter made in cash last week $99.50. o

H. G. K—A former salesman made in cash last week $51.80. L. C. T.—A former salesman made In cash last week $111.95. S. D.—A former sailor made In cash last week $45.65. E. G. S.—A former physical culture Instructor made In cash last week $57.20.

We could go on and fill up this co lumn with earnings of this kind.

The above earnings seem astounding; In feet they sound farfetched, hard to believe, almost Impossible— however, they are truer-you are privileged to see our records or to have any authority In the city Investigate the above figures.

Of course, we have men not making that much. Some men don't grasp the opportunity quite as quickly as others and are averaging only from $50 to $75 a week and some m e n fall with us, but we can answer that one. too. An executive of this company will give a full explanation of how this unusual money Is feeing made and will make a selection of six men, if possible. Men out of town will have their expenses paid if selected. T h e writer of this ad gives an open i n -vttatton to serious-minded men for* this interview Thursday morning. We won't promise to hire you. However, we Will promise a courteous interview—you will have nothing to lose but your time and It might be Interesting to run this ad down and find out how some m e n make the above quoted earnings .
