Company Overview

WiMi Hologram Cloud is a provider of Augmented Reality (AR) “holographic cloud”solutions for the advertising and entertainment industries in China. The company isglobally the sole developer of 3rd-generation 6D light field holographic technologyproducts (with a simulation degree of over 98%).

They currently make CNY 332M (~$50M) in TTM revenue, representing 22% YoYgrowth, with CNY 118M in gross profit (~$18M). Advertising displays account for~83% of sales.

It is important to note the company does not view itself as an advertising agency, butis rather treating this as a stepping stone to bigger things. Management is currentlyputting the foundations in place to enter a variety of other markets, namely:

• Virtual shopping• 5G communications (holographic video calls and remote interaction)• Education• Assisted/autonomous driving and vehicle cockpit interactivity• Face recognition and 3D Deepfakes


WiMi’s recent major breakthrough in sensors

Last month (January 2021), WiMi announced it had obtained a patent for a new 3D holographic pulse laser optical processing device.This device will have a wide range of applications, including medical imaging, unmanned flight, holographic spectrometers. But fornow, the company is focused on automotive sensors and autonomous driving.

What makes this patent all the more impressive is that the company “has also achieved a speed of image processing that is 80% fasterthan the industry average. While most peer companies may identify and capture 40 to 50 blocks of image data within a specific spaceunit, WiMi collects 500 to 550 data blocks.” Essentially, this is going to result in WiMi being able to offer much more detailedcockpit/dashboard holographic displays vs its competitors.


WiMi’s China Mobile contract win represents an early step into handheld 5G

On February 19th, WiMi announced it won the bid for the second phase of ChinaMobile andMedia Cloud Platform's “remote interaction holographic project”.

In 2014, Chinese phone manufacturer Takee announced the first ever holographic3D smartphone. It took a while, but China Mobile’s first major breakthrough in thisspace came in 2018, by achieving the world's first ever holographic video call on 5G.In the meantime, Huawei in the process of improving upon holographic displaytechnology, in a joint project with the University of Cambridge.

WiMi’s China Mobile contract win represents the company’s first significant foray intothe 5G communications space, following years of conceptual planning. While weawait further details about what exactly the project entails, this can be viewed asanother “free option”.


WiMi wants to bring holographic technology to classrooms

WiMi is developing holographic AR and VR content to be used in classrooms, like 3Dmodels of animals, cartoon characters, vehicles, food, etc..

Eventually, management plans to work with the government on the development ofelectronic classrooms, integrating hologram videos with school textbooks, as well aseventually enabling high-caliber urban teachers to holographically projectthemselves into classrooms in rural China.

WiMi is also working on virtual shopping

WiMi has already developed SDK plug-ins and an intelligent billing system that it is looking to integrate with mobile devicesand AR/VR/smart glasses.

Based on management and press release commentary, the ultimate goal here is to enable shoppers to digitally shop and payfor goods and services as they walk past and/or interact withWiMi’s holographic advertisement displays.
