This term we will welcome our 2013 Kindergarten students into our school as they experience our five week orientation program. This term years 2-6 will be involved in a three day camp at Wooglemai and later in the term students in Kindergarten and Year One will also visit Wooglemai Environmental Education Centre for a one day excursion based on Mini Beasts. Students from K-6 will also be given the opportunity to participate in the “Life Education Program” in week seven. All students were given a package for our upcoming November 7, school photograph day. If you wish to order, these envelopes need to be returned to the class teacher prior to this day. Envelopes were also issued for family photographs. If you have any inquiries regarding the photo packs, please don’t hesitate to contact the office. Fathers’ Day Raffle Thank you to all of the families who supported the P&C raffle. The prize draw took place on the last Thursday of Term 3 and the results were as follows and congratulations to: 1 st Stephanie Herrringe 2 nd Tia Veech 3 rd T Koens 4 th Will Morrison 5 th Mitchell Taylor. Public Speaking Competition Congratulations to all of the students who presented their speech at the Public Speaking Assembly. Gena McDonald, Alyssa DiMicco, William Armin and Evan Hyslop will now represent the school at the Macarthur District Public Speaking Competition. Thank you to Miss Louttit for her hard work in preparing these students for the next level of competition and good luck to our competitors. Wollondilly Shire Council Gardening Competition Mrs Darley entered the school front garden in the local gardening competition and we were placed third in the School Garden Category! The school received a voucher for Picton Sand and Soil and some native plants for our gardens. Just imagine what we can achieve when our gardens become established. The Oaks Historical Society Drawing Competition Congratulations to Summer Hogan, Caitlyn Herringe and Kalina Tyler who received awards for their outstanding efforts in creating images of local history. Camden Interschool Equestrian Event Prior to the holidays, a group of four students, Grace Shields, Ella Shields, Caitlyn Herringe and Scott Parnell represented the school in an interschool equestrian event. The children competed in a variety of events and received an impressive tally of ribbons for their efforts. A big thank you must go to Monique Shields for managing the school team and to Stephanie Herringe and Fiona Hay for the assistance on the day. Well done to all our competitors.

Picton Show Colouring Competition Congratulations to the following students who received recognition for their entry in the Picton District Show. First Prize Ella Shields and Jasmine Kelly Second Prize Aleisha Sturges Third Prize Will Morrison and Gena McDonald Highly Commended Christina Dagorne, Ella Bruinenberg, William Armin, Billy Laybutt, Charlie Passfield, Ruby Hamilton, Max Bruinenberg, Wyatt Passfield, Kate Williams and Brandon Pizzuto. Fine Motor Skills Activity Group As a result of teachers identifying a need, we have commenced a small focus group which is based upon activities aimed at improving the fine motor skills of students. These sessions operate on Tuesdays and are developed and implemented by our Support Teacher Learning, Mrs Woods. Students who are participating in this program are certainly enjoying their dexterity challenges.

Upcoming Events National Bandana Day to support youth cancer research, will be held at school on Friday October 26. Bandanas will be for sale under the cola for $4.00. Grandparents Day will be held on Friday November 2 from 12 – 2pm. The celebration will consist of a whole school assembly followed by a BBQ lunch, tea and coffee. Please book a date in the diary of your child’s grandparents. Mrs McLeod will advise of further details closer to the date. School Website The School Website Service is currently experiencing issues which have unfortunately delayed updates to pages including the photo gallery and calendar. Grants Received Last week the school was extremely fortunate to receive a $6600.00 donation from Bradcorp to construct the first of our three shade sails. We are extremely grateful for the support

that Bradcorp offers the school as without this donation the construction would be unable to commence. Construction should commence in the next five weeks. Miss Louttit was also successful in her application to the NSW Mineral Council and Xstrata Coal and has received a $500.00 gardening grant towards the construction of a student vegie garden. Grandparents play a very important role in children’s lives by teaching, sharing and caring for them. To celebrate this special bond we would like to invite all Grandparents to spend some time with their grandchildren at school. We will be holding a special assembly and a sausage sizzle for lunch.
