WILSON WAY Issue 3 2016/2017 February 2017 Year 4 visit the Houses of Parliament On 12th December, all the Year 4 children went to London and visited the Houses of Parliament. There is lots of information and pictures on Gill Lewisblog: http://gilllewis2016.wilsonblog.net. PSA Thank you to everyone who donated gifts and bought tickets to the Christmas Raffle. The winners were: Drinks Basket: Banyard family Food Basket: Gustafson Family Toy Basket: Pentland Family Toiletries Basket: Vicki Mixed Basket: Radford Family Coffee Machine; Papadopoulos Family The PSA are now organising the Spring Fling - a Family Disco on Friday 10th March. Tickets will be on sale from Mon- day 20th February, there will be a bar, Pick n Mix Sweet trolley, Hot Dogs as well as a fantastic disco. Doors will open at 7.00 pm and the disco will start at 7.30 and go on until 10.00 pm. Tickets will be £10 per family of 2 adults plus children £5 per family of 1 adult plus children £3 for adults only Another very important date for your diary is Saturday 24th June - the Summer Fayre will be held on that day during the after- noon. Red Nose Day We will all be participating in Red Nose Day on Friday 24th March. Red Noses will be on sale from Mon- day 20th March and we have a lim- ited stock (320!). It will be a non- uniform day and children should come to school dressed in red and bring a donation. We will also have a bake off competition with prizes in each year group and then a Grand Prize Winner. All cakes will be sold at the end of the day. Reminder: The children break up for Half term on Friday 10th February at 3.15 pm. Return to School on Monday 20th February 2017. School Photos In addition to the portrait photos that were done in November, and the Class Photos that will be taken in April, this year to celebrate the whole school being 2-form entry, we will be having a panoramic photo taken of the whole school on Tuesday 6th June. This will involve all of the children and staff having their photo taken at the same time on the field. More details will follow nearer the time. Wilson Road Following re- quests from residents of Wil- son Road, we would like to ask you to please take care when walking down the road. Please make sure neither you, your chil- dren or other pavement users are forced to go into the road. Year 4 Myths & Legends Year 4 kicked off their topic of Myths and Leg- ends by having a Demi- god training day on Thursday 5th January. They had lots of fun tak- ing part in many activities such as Greek code breaking, finding out their Greek god name and responsibility, rock climbing, obstacle course run and Ar- chery! During this term they have created Greek God hel- mets and are currently trying to find out who the lightning thief is from the book 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief'. Very Important There have been a few recent oc- casions when we have not been able to contact parents in an emer- gency. It is essential that you let the office know when you change your mobile number, address and contacts. If we cannot get hold of anyone, we may have to contact the local authority to fulfil our duty of care to your child. Y6 Football Tournament On Friday 27th January some of the Year 6 children took part in a Football Tournament at Madjeski Training Ground. Year 4 visit the Houses of Parliament

On 12th December, all the Year 4 children went to London and

visited the Houses of Parliament. There is lots of information and

Easter Fun!!

On Thursday 6th April there

will be some after school fun

in the playground. Children

can make an Easter Hat and

there will be a parade. All

hats should be made and

brought to the office in the morning so that they

can be judged and the winners will win an Easter

Egg.

There will also be a raffle

which will be drawn on that

afternoon - tickets will be

available from the office from

Monday 20th March - 50p

each or a strip of 5 for £2.

Lots of Easter goodies to be

won.

Also on that day, we will have a cake sale so if

you would like to donate cakes for the cake stall,

please bring them to the office on the morning of

the 6th April. Thank you
