Tim Martin
creates all
his carvings
from the
finest Tupelo
Falco rusticolus
Good reference material is vital to ensure accuracy. Not one of
my carvings are the same.
Falco sparverius
I enjoy the grace, drama and the mystery
of birds. I have spent many hours
watching birds.
Parabuteo unicinctus
I decided to carve this Harris hawk
getting ready to pounce on its prey in
New Mexico. It was majestic.
Anus discors
I also enjoy the grace and form of ducks.
A Blue Winged Teal takes flight from the
reeds.
ANUS ACUTA
Anus acuta
Anus crecca
This cute little guy was the first of
my wildfowl carvings
Anus americana
As my carving developed so did
my compositions. Like this
preening widgeon. There is
character.
Tyrannus verticalis
The western Kingbird frequents
the Oregon territory. I love to see
these birds in action.
Carduelis tristis
This is another bird that
has grace and beauty
I also like to fish. I pretty much like
to carve anything that is of interest.
Again, good reference material is
vital to my work.
This Brown trout is a beauty. I use auto
paints to get a realistic effect, like most
real fish.
I hand paint all my carvings in light
washes. I pay close attention to subtle
details. I also paint the glass eyes.
The Rainbow trout is one of my favorite
fish carvings. It is a great joy to get the
many colors of this beautiful fish. I truly
see how it gets its name.
As with all my carvings its important to
tell a story
In my studio in Portland, Oregon my
objective is to be first to try new ideas.
My carvings are truly original and
unique.
I like to experiment with different types of
wood. This Bison I experimented with a
piece of Juniper
As a wildlife artist I made this carving
from wood to look like a bronze piece.
Experimenting
My new thing today is to create pieces
so the bases are natural and fully part of
the carving. Like these carved rocks
from cedar
May you have happiness and the cause for happiness
