Documents cross-published by TheGuardian show that the former president

of Kenya used shell companies and

secret trusts to funnel hundreds of

millions of pounds out of Kenya and intohis personal accounts in other countries.

This laundered money was then used to

    purchase expensive properties in London,

New York, South Africa and Australia.

In January 2008, WikiLeaks began publishingdocuments detailing money laundering between

Swiss Bank Julius Baer and anonymous trusts in the

Cayman Islands. Bank Julius Baer sought an

injunction against the wikileaks.org domain registrarin the United States, which temporarily forced the

domain offline. Seeking to censor WikiLeaks brought

additional negative publicity to the bank's practices.

After court filings by the Electronic FrontierFoundation and ACLU, the injunction was lifted in

February 2008 and the case against WikiLeask was

    dropped.http://www.wikileaks.ch/wiki/Bank_Julius_Baer_vs._Wikileaks

In December 2007, the Center for the Study of

Human Rights in the Americas at UC Davis foundthat the guidelines violated international

    addition to the standardoperating procedures,

additional abusive actions and negligentconditions were imposed upon detainees.

Witness testimonies were collected from medical

Internal documents from Kaupthing Bank show that

billions of euros were loaned to major shareholders

just prior to the collapse of the bank. The collapse ofKaupthing and other major banks led to the 2008-

2010 Icelandic financial crisis. In the wake of the

resulting uproar in Iceland, criminal charges relating

to improper financing are currently being investigated.

    Collateral Murder

2010The helicopter crew may have mistaken the cameraequipment for weapons, and as a result, requested

permission to open fire on a group of otherwise-

unarmed civilians. Permission was granted based onthe inaccurate description of the group as being

heavily-armed five to six individuals with AK47s. The

Apache opened fire, killing all but one of the men with

    30mm machine-gun rounds.

    Collateral Murder

2010The official statement on the incident in 2007 was thatUS forces engaged an active hostile threat and indoing so killed nine insurgents and two civilians. This

    contradicts eye-witness testimony, police accounts

    and the leaked video.

The release of the video highlighted not only the harsh

conditions journalists face in Iraq, but trials that

average Iraqi families must endure as a consequenceof ongoing military action in Baghdad.
